Of Course Jim Tressel Wears White High Tops

Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel was in Youngstown Saturday to participate in Maurice Clarett's charity basketball event, The Comeback Project, thrilling fans with his ball-handling skills (and incredible white high tops).

Joining Tressel and Clarett on the court were Boom Herron, Prescott Burgess, Mario Manningham, Trent Richardson, Matt Overton and other current or former football players with ties to the region.

Clarett introduced Tressel to the crowd as "the President of Youngstown," drawing the largest ovation during pregame and the Vest, serving as a player/coach, chose to start himself alongside Clarett, Richardson, Herron and Burgess.

While Tressel's court game appeared rusty, he did help lead his team to the win:

I'm wondering if they're the old Chuck Taylors.

Long live the southend.

I think he has on Cliff Claven white socks.

I'm guess that Tress' crossover is just as sick as Mike Conley's.

I'm thinking more Bob Cousy.

Tressel is still the man.

I'm sure JT was trying to figure out how he could get a punter on the court.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Tress appears to be going to "take it to the hoop." From the photo, I can tell that the defender is in over his head, trying to guard the Vest. Congrats on another W, Coach.

Wow. So many questions/thoughts spring to mind with this photo. One, that looks photoshopped for some reason, even though I know its not. Two, I love that the photo credit is to Tressel himself. How did that happen, is his wife in the stands taking these and then sending them out to the press? 3, JT looks stocky in a Craft sort of way. And 4, who are the other guys in the photo? Just a whole lot of crazy/random going on here.

I'm glad we have Meyer, but JT will always be my favorite OSU coach of all time.

Surprised he's not wearing a sweatervest on the court.

I vote Jim Tressel in the next NBA dunk contest. They could make an exception for an athlete like Tress right? I heard Dan Gilbert is thinking about bringing him on as a free agent. Wouldn't be the dumbest thing Gilbert has ever done...

Those don't look like high tops to me. The guy behind him has high tops but not Tressel.

Tress should have rocked the all-volt LeBron X's like Boom. That would've been even funnier.

His shoes, much like his offenses, are ugly but get the job done.
