Forbes: Ohio State is NCAA's 5th-Most Valuable Basketball Team
This Forbes piece says Louisville is the nation's most valuable college basketball team. The magazine puts Louisville's worth at $39.5 million. Ohio State ranks fifth, behind Louisville, Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky. The Buckeyes are valued at $23.1 million, with a basketball profit of $13.6 million. This is an interesting tidbit:
Ohio State's athletic department provided $4.3 million to academic endeavors last year, the most of any Big Ten school.
Other B1G schools among the top 20 include Indiana (6), Wisconsin (7), Michigan State (10), Minnesota (13), and Illinois (17). Future conference member Maryland is 16th.

Very interesting. Glad to see us up there with the blue bloods!
Just think if we could sell out every game by charging $75 like KU does.
No University of Michigan in the top 20? Hmmm.
they'd make more money if they didn't make opposing fans wear yellow shirts
Nice to see scUM not on the list. Somewhat surprising though, given how much they've invested in basketball recently.

We should strive to keep thy name, of fair repute and spotless fame...
(Also, I'm not a dude)
I was thinking the same thing - this is a helluva feat for a football school. I'm especially pleased with the Paying It Forward the program is doing with the academic contributions.
Not to mention the amount of money they give to sports that don't generate any profit. I'm pretty sure Ohio State has more athletic programs than any university in the country.
Wasn't it forbes who said Ohio State had like the 20th most valuable football program? I think they had wisconsin ahead of us
For a football school to have a basketball program this respected and this good that is highly impressive. Proud to be a Buckeye.

Football will always be king, but I don't think you can call OSU just a football school anymore.
sooooo.....how long until gene smith puts the team up for sale?
The Forbes lists don't make any sense. Didn't they rate OSU's football team the 20th most valuable? Yes.
Just speculating here, but I think that low ranking might have been based on what I like to call the worst season ever. I bet Ohio State will be ranked much higher after the perfect season.
Indeed they did! I think maybe they got football and basketball mixed up
