This team is bad. There, I said it. They seem unmotivated and they most likely will get knocked out in the first or second round of the tourney

No. You pessimist's act like this the worst Ohio state team ever. It's rather annoying considering this team is ranked 13th, is 17-6 and will get at least a 5 seed
Oh well rankings are NEVER wrong. Are you serious? Anyone that sees a team for what they truly are is a pessimist? If I were, I would have never made it past the 1st quarter. Spare me your pious attitude. Keep telling yourself how great this team is.....some of us actually live in the real world.

Seems like a small crowd on here tonight so I'll just say it. Deshaun takes us out of our flow. He's a hindrance. I think his game has regressed in the past couple weeks. I think he's fallen in love with his own stat line.
Brandon - that's nuts.
Without DT - we lose every game 40-65
His point is that DT takes a lot of crazy shots. Yeah he makes a ton and is our best player but he's starting to revert back to freshman days of "I have to take this shot before I get pulled".
osu doesn't really have any other scoring options, so we have to live and die with thomas. unless someone else steps up, that is.
Yeah but I can't help but look at the offense Northwestern is running with all the screens and cuts and think how good we might be running something like that. I feel like it's just a bunch of athletes standing around.
Reality is that DT isn't that good. He has flashes of brilliance but he's nowhere near a complete player. I'd rather see his 15-20 shots go to Craft/Ross. I just think he's still selfish. Then again, I've never cared for Thomas.

I think we have a bunch of folks who have been spoiled over the recent success of the program. Is this team the 2006 team, no, but its a pretty good one all things considered. Do we play to potential every night, no, but what team has this year. We'll make some noise in the BIG tourney and the dance - I'm happy.
We must be watching two different teams. I see very little about this team that I can label as "pretty good". All I see are a bunch of athletes running around. They are tied at home against a team with 7 players who mostly have whiteman's disease: run slow, jump low.
but nw can shoot. that is the great equalizer.

Hopefully we start going over screens so they don't make a three every possession. Or at least have the guy hedge better

This is the worst Buckeyes team I have seen in a long time. They play with no fire. Refs make horrible calls and they don't even react. For as good as he is defensively, Craft is absolutely horrible on offense. If he were getting a ton of assists that would be one thing but no assists and no points. He doesn't even ATTEMPT shots. Amir Williams has about the worst hands I have ever seen on a big man. We are TIED at home with a team that is horrible to begin with but only has like seven players! Where is the coaching Matta apologist? How many times have they been beat on back doors? EVERYONE knows it's coming. Freaking JOKE!

I thought that was the point of a forum. Look I love the Buckeyes as much as anyone. It's in my family blood and I've raised my son, who has lived his whole life in FL, to love the Buckeyes. But, I can't sugar coat things I see. It's frustrating to watch. People can down vote me all they want and call me a bad fan but if I think they are great I will be the first to say it. The opposite also holds true.
The opposite of great is bad and this team is no where near bad.

Bad is subjective. To me, it's a team that struggles to put away a NW team, at home, with only 7 actuve scholarship players, until the last 2 minutes of the game. It's a team that has lost to nearly every ranked opponent it's faced. All that is based on the McD All Americans and athletes that are on this team. No way should they lose that many and no way should this game have been close.

Not much of a half. Good news is that I doubt NW can be much more efficient than that on offense, or Thomas much less efficient, and it's still a tie.

Well, that was rough first half. For some reason playing teams that shoot a ton of threes always proves difficult for OSU.
Which is mind boggling. With our athleticism we should be able to smother them on the perimeter. Are you telling me they can get past our players off the dribble? Joke.

I actually don't think we're playing that poorly. NW is shooting very well and we aren't playing our normal defense, but it's still decent. I don't think we're terrible on offense either. NW is doing a good job taking us out of our game. I expect us to penetrate the zone a little better in the second half and get the ball down low. But I don't think anyone, other than DT...maybe, is having a bad game. I was actually pumped with the minutes that MacDonald gave.
i was actually kidding. i'm not thinking nw can keep up their shooting in the 2nd half. i still think osu wins.
We do need to play some better defense and start making our foul shots - did I see it correctly - we're 4-9 form the line??? Ugh. DT is the worst percentage shooter on the team thus far.

So what exactly should we be talking about on an open thread about the game? I didn't know "wow this team is great" was the only thing allowed to be posted. The fact that you label those that disagree with your assessment of the team as childish is exactly that.
When you call this team bad because it's 17-6, ranked 13th, barely beating an extremely hot shooting team, and not gonna go 33-5 like we are used to, it is pretty childish
It's an opinion, one that we are allowed to have. Not childish. And it's a point that some of us agree with ... we're an average team. I don't care that we are 17-6. Look at our record vs. top 25 or RPI top whatever. This is an average team by Ohio State's standards. Some people just address their passion differently, and there's no issue being critical. We're all Buckeyes, and all want the best. I was on here the other night expressing open, honest opinion and had people telling me I knew nothing about basketball and was a troll. You'd thought I pissed on Woody's grave ... a bit ridiculous.
Thank you Knarcisi. Expressing my opinion and saying I don't think this is a good team does not equal traitor. Some people on here need to realize that. I love this team as much as any of them. I take no pleasure in saying it. I just don't understand why they are so bad. All I ever hear is how good of a coach Thad Matta is. Maybe he is. But I am seeing a lot of coaches do more with less. Is it wrong to hold someone to their purported reputation?
I believe it is when we all knew this team wasn't going to be as good as last year or the year before after losing sullinger and buford, and look! we are still a top 15 team easily
I think this year, more than any in recent memory, is showing the importance of leadership from upper classmen. For all that Deshaun and Craft are, they have not proven themselves to be great leaders. The youth and inexperience of this team is really what I see is driving the inconsistency we are all seeing from half to half and game to game. I actually think Matta has done one of his best coaching jobs this year. I look at how Kentucky and North Carolina are struggling with their rosters of 5 star McDonalds All-Americans and feel pretty good about where we are and what we've done so far this season. We are far from perfect, but I think our league play and performance down the stretch could be very important, if not this season, certainly for next.

I would encourage you to offer constructive criticism instead of blatant bashing. People on this board like to have honest conversation and debate with the understanding that the majority of us are die hard Buckeye fans.

Actually the best shooter on the team is the guy that is costing us the game right now. Not even so much with his lack of offense tonight, but moreso with his lack of defense. NW already hit up DT for 11 points this half...maybe more.

People seem to miss the idea that down votes are not for differences of opinion.
Then what are they for, exactly?
A comment that is uncalled for, flat out rude, trolling, etc.
Upvote anything that's well-articulated. Even if it's contrarian and inspires you to write up a 1500-word response, give opposing viewpoints the same love you'd give something you agree with 100%.
Upvote anything witty that makes you laugh (or most anything Denny posts).
Funny pictures? Upvote.
Use the upvote to cancel out needless downvotes. Not everyone plays by the same rules, and a lot of quality comments get downvoted into oblivion because someone (A) doesn't like the poster, (B) doesn't like their arguement, or (C) doesn't like the team they root for.
Use your downvotes sparingly, for things that are obviously over-the-line. If you're violating the policy (i.e. "being a jerk"), let the downvotes rain.
If it's borderline, play it safe.
That's nice, but there are plenty of people on here that downvote on a difference of opinion.
