Honestly this is what I fucking hate about basketball. If you're tall, you'll most likely be good. Jeff Withey has no freaking ball skill, but since he's so damn tall, he can grab those rebounds.

kansas's athletic ability is showing up. They are a much more fluid team, than OSU. Kansas seems to have better basketball instincts with their passing and getting into scoring position. Also,OSU just isn't a good shooting team. Lot's of work to do to before they get into the NCAA Tourney.
They have run the same out of bounds play 3 times and have scored 7 points off of it. That is just sad.

These announcers are spot on. We are gassed once again. Why? you asked. Well you didn't, but anyway, cause Matta doesn't use a bench. For years, he was a afraid. Well now he is just stubborn, cause outside of DT, our bench players are as good as the guys that start the game. There is no excuse. We should be shuttling players and playing 90 feet of up beat basketball. No Sully, no slow down game. Need to get out and run.
Hopefully Matta will listen to one of his assistants. He has good ones and we cannot be the only ones seeing what happens in big games. We get tired every year in the tournament. Shots are short at the end. Why, cause we are always tired in the end.

Yeah because he isn't the coach and isn't in charge right? This is COMPLETELLY on Matta. Same Matta coaching. Just let them keep jacking up the shots. When they play sucky teams they can get away with it. There's a reason Matta never wins a big game.
believe what you will. I have followed the Matts teams for years. Playing Ross 4-5 minutes a half is not what I am talking about. Scott saw minutes as well as Williams. Agreed. Sorry, I have just seen him outcoached too many times in the big games. Trust me, I am getting greedy and understand that. Matta has been a Godsend for our BBall program. I get it, just telling you what I see and know. dude... :)
not buying our team being tired. Getting beat by better teams and piss poor shooting has been dooming us. Last year vs Duke, we seemed to make everything we shot, and we also looked like the best team in the country at that point. Name any team that you thought was awesome, that shot less than 40% from the field.

by that logic, blaming Matta for good good basketball shooting and bad basketball shots would be like giving Meyer credit for Braxton's TD passes and then blaming him for Rod Smith's fumbles.
I'm not comparing football to basketball. I am simply using it as a coaching reference. I have yet to see a horrible coach, coach the top teams. Odds are, if you have a bad coaching staff, you will get beat at least 9/10 times. Matta isn't a horrible coach, but he certainly got out coached tonight.
Kansas' players outplayed Ohio State's players....that is why we lost! I want you to post after the next victory and proclaim coaching is the reason for that victory.
Obviously players are a reason why a team would win or lose, but to say coaching has NO EFFECT in competitive sports is foolish. Heck, James Kinney is one of the top scorers in the country and yet San Jose St is barely breaking .500 on the season. It isn't because they can't score, it's because of coaching. Ohio State went 6-7 last year with the same players as last year almost entirely, yet we go undefeated this year. It isn't entirely the players that control how well they are, but good coaching to help a team prepare you is a HUGE factor. If you don't believe so, I doubt you ever did good in ANY sport growing up.

Thank you for your service to our country. I now know more about you than you know about me, which is exactly my point. You know nothing about me and nothing about coaching OSU basketball, yet you come on to a website and comment as though you do.
Let me make it simple for you. Here's what you and I both know about yesterday's game: Kansas scored more points than OSU did. Check the boxscore for more facts, and let me know where it shows that Thad Matta was out coached. Trying to convince me otherwise is a waste of time. And yes, I did watch the game. What I saw was a lack of execution by the players that resulted in a loss. I know, I know, I know....you watched the game and saw a loss resulting from, at least partially, Thad Matta being out coached. Simply post on this site after every victory that it was a result of Matta out coaching the opponent and I won't consider you a hypocrite.
The only reason I am saying he was out coached because he FAILED to make adjustments. If something isn't working and hasn't been working, why proceed to keep trying it? How many 3's did he have his players attempt before he changed up the game plan? Craft is best when he plays the point, not 2 guard. He has been all season (yes, I know we're not even into Big 10 play yet). Scott is terrific off the break, and Craft is good with the ball at half court. A Williams is the only one setting screens besides Ravennel who sets them 15 feet from the board. Scott ignores them entirely and Craft uses them half the time coming back the other way which only gives him a step on the defender. This doesn't make sense to me. I am aware of Matta being out coached will never show up on a scoreboard, but I believe he truly was. If something isn't going your way and you keep trying it, that to me means you are out coached. He failed to make adjustments. We've been saying for the past couple years that Craft is a great player because of the stuff he does that doesn't blow up on the scoreboard. If we account for what he does that's not reflected on the scoreboard, why can't we for the head coach? Furthermore, the whole point of a blog is to comment your opinion on whatever you'd like. Am I wrong for stating my opinion? I didn't think so either. I'm not saying I am a master coach and I can make any player elite, but whenever I notice something isn't working, I'd at least try something different.
@JOHNBLAIR,, I hope you know Meyer doesn't directly coach Braxton nor does he directly coach Rod Smith. He is a HEAD COACH and we do have position coaches for QB and RB. Just a heads up.
Just like we have respective coaches for our frontcourt and backcourt players..... Or at the very least for shooting and play within the paint. Matta is the HC, all he can do is tell the players what to do, they have to execute. Guys were missing wide open shots, what is he supposed to do? Get into a tizzy, scream, stomp around?
I agree 100% with your statement. Definitely wouldn't want him to a hissy fit, but I would like more emotion than sitting there speechless for numerous minutes...
Wow, Ohio State is clearly the most overrated team in the Big 10. Horrible coaching by Matta and horrible shot percentage in both halves. What was our percentage in the 2nd half? Imma be surprised if it's about 10%
So when does football season start? It's not even that they played bad or aren't as good as the past couple years, it's just boring to watch.

If we can make it to March... Michigan, Indiana, MAU, Illinois, Minnesota will give us plenty of problems. If we can't win any of those games, we have ZERO legitimate teams on our resume. Just sayin'...

when the going gets tough, true colors get flown. OSU needs to get to 20 wins to get into the NCAA Tournament. I hope they can.
I've always enjoyed rooting for the underdog in events not displaying OSU. This basketball season, I get the best of both worlds.
Good wins/losses in December count towards March Madness, right? With the way they played tonight, I can't see how they will beat ANY legitimate team. We shot HORRIBLE against Duke and even worse against KU at HOME. If we played like that, do YOU see us beating Indiana, Michigan, MSU, Minnesota, Illinois if they even played decent? I'm not seeing it.
Around the 3 or 4 minute mark, Thad just sat back for awhile and didn't say a damn thing. Not sure if it's because he was frustrated with the (non) shooting display, officiating, or didn't care at that point. But still, come on Thad.
No one on this team can score consistently. I don't care about games against UNC Asheville. We can't beat top 25 teams right now. You know those "resumes" ESPN likes to throw up in Feb/March with quality wins and bad losses...our quality win column will be N/A.

Some of you all suck so bad. Its a young team. Very y piss poor shooting. But blaming matta that no one can hit an open shot? You all are pathetic and very very spoiled.
Clearly you've never actually played. If you can't hit an open shot, you take it to the basket for easier shots and to draw fouls. If they are jacking it up from the outside and not hitting anything it is the coach's job to stop it. He is in charge. Matta always seems to let his guys freelance out there. I feel like I'm watching a Mike Brown team.
