An open thread for a MAC game, you say? When it involves former Ohio State assistant Darrell Hazell (and LB coach Marcus Freeman) trying to capture a championship and potential BCS bid for Kent State, it absolutely makes sense.
Besides, this is a matchup of ranked teams, which is more than you could say for 90% of the Big Ten games played this season.

One thing I think is for certain, Hazell is going to make a little more money next year! Sort the list to lowest salaries and he's only making a little more than UL Monroe's Todd Berry.
I want Hazell to play Lawrence Taylor in the upcoming movie about the life of LT.

Dri Archer needs more stickers on his helmet. Or shoes. Or pants.
Message received, Espn doesn't want Kent to win. Now can you just announce the game instead of ripping on Kent's loss to Kentucky?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Sweet Jesus there are 65 people at the Pac-12 Championship Game, and it's at Stanford.
Yeah, tickets are actually $20 for students, and way more than that after that. It's also finals week and raining like like crazy. I'm surprised it's this bad, though. I was there for the Oregon State game, and we still filled the stadium :/
Pissed I can't be there right now--away on interview trip. Will be gone even if we get a Rose Bowl bid, though, which makes me even angrier. Life in medicine and football fandom clearly don't mix.

I hope I'm not the only one here commenting on the UCLA-Stanford game. Otherwise, it'll just end up being an awkward soliloquy.

Kevin Hogan is a BEAST. I'm not entirely convinced Stanford wouldn't be undefeated if we'd started him this season instead of Josh Nunes...

How does he get his hats like that?
Can't Read. Can't Write. Kent State.
The 2012 National Champions.
Johnathan Franklin is certainly having a better game this time around.
Stanford got in anyways, but that was a TD on the INT return, no camera angle on the goalline to show it though.
Definitely a TD. UCLA's offense didn't seem to put a whole lot of effort into stopping that return until he was at the 15 yard line.
Love how the Franklin run was a TD but the Reynolds run wasn't. Clearly the refs are Cal grads :/

Love how they did a Chip Kelly commercial even though they are at home watching.
Kent State is taking turrible angles to the ball.
I was going to sign on to marvel at Darrell Hazell's imitation of a Jim Bollman offense, when they finally woke up.
This game isn't going to be the one that lands Hazell his next job, that's for sure.
Edit: Oh wow! This is a miracle! Tied now, after they did nothing for about 3 full quarters.

Kent has GOT to make this down, but they fumble. GET THE POINTS.
Can't believe they made that play call, maybe play action, but not that.
Overtime, 2nd-1 from the 5, and Kent first loses a yard, then loses about 10 more on a reverse.
Browns followers among the Kent fanbase should have found that sequence real familiar.

Obvious that UCLA hid much of the playbook last week against Stanford. They came out firing off fake motion counters and diamond formation out of the pistol. This one could get real ugly in the mud.

Which position group did Hazell coach at Ohio State?
Wide recievers. For quite a fews years, actually. 2004-2010 I think.

that was a lucky penalty
Keith of Kent State telegraphs his passes so much, they might as well give him Samuel Morse's old jersey.
Nice effort this season and a nice comeback in the fourth quarter, but the failure to convert a 2nd-1 in the first overtime was the killer.

UCLA's gameplan:
1) Crowd the line of scrimmage. Bring 8 guys into the box on every play regardless of what it looks like.
2) Double-cover Zach Ertz, even if you have to leave another WR wide open.
3) Keep throwing swing passes to James Franklin.
4) ????
5) Profit.
Alright David Shaw. Time to earn your keep as Pac-12 COY.

Oh ho ho! David Shaw, you sly snake. Way to lull Mora into thinking we were playing for an FG with that fullback run!

Aaaaaaand, there's the Stanford D we've been looking for all game!
Sidenote: Feels awkward like I'm talking to myself in here :(

Looks like Stanford is going to the Rose Bowl
Edit: aaaaand I spoke too soon
Imagine how terrible this game would be if it were Oregon/USC like it was 'supposed' to be
damnit. really wanted UCLA to at least force overtime.
ER. MAH. GERD. I'm smelling roses, baby. GO CARDINAL!!!!!

I feel the same. Sucks. I love the way Stanford plays, but UCLA has been a great story. Mora looks to be the real deal out there. Hundley is going to be very good. I just hope Nebraska can win so we at least have a ranked team reppin the mighty Big14
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I'm really glad that it was between Stanford and UCLA for the Rose Bowl spot
I'm so sick of Oregon and USC being the Pac-12 team there every year
I'm so glad Stanford is going to the Rose Bowl. I get the satisfaction of watching one of my teams pound Nebraska (or hopefully Wisconsin) one more time.

Stupid interviews. I wish I could be in Palo Alto right now... Had priority for tickets too :(
