Was watching Wisconsin beat up on Purdue and Mike Patrick and Craig (asshole) James couldn't help themselves in talking about the big game tonite with the two best teams in the country.
They have "22 mature starters" "who have been shaving for a while". Also arguing that maybe they should do a rematch for NC.
I say--B1G teams could have "22 mature starters" "who have been shaving for a while" if B1G would allow oversigning and the culling each year of recruiting mistakes. B1G wants to win ball games and B1G may not be perfect, but B1G certainly looks after football student athletes better than the conference that prides itself on winning the last 5 NCs.
Funny how announcers calling games never mention of how those rosters get stacked with talent.
I understood everything except for the last sentence. Not really but "give a Buckeye a chance", man...If Meyer was the coach, wouldn't you want him to have 3 years to turn things around? Fickell deserves the same. The team is not great, especially on the offense, but improvement is happening and I can see a Big Ten championship next year WITH Fickell. Can't you see it, too?
Not only is this game the "Game of the Century", if you watch the ESPiN documentary RollTide/War Eagle--some are claiming that the Alabama/Auburn rivalry is the greatest rivalry in college football.
At least CBS mentioned the '06 game. But I think we should wait to apply the "Game of the Century" tag until AFTER the game. What if Alabama wins 50-7? What then?
Think CBS is happy the ESECPN gave them all that free advertisement for the big game that's on tonight? CBS didn't even have to show any commercials for this game.
LSU throws an INT and bama returns to the 3 yd line but turns it back over on a botched snap. bama gets a safety and the rest of the game consists of 3 n outs... final score: bama 2, LSU 0. game of the century...
What channel is this game on? I thought they said it was going to be a game between the best 2 teams in the nation, best game in 100 years. I can't seem to find it.
Saban on signing day: "it's not an advantage to sign five kickers. You never know when one isn't going to qualify academically or when one is going to get hurt or when one is going to choke in the game of the century. Normal stuff."
I know it's only early 2nd quarter, but I gotta say this game is just about as overhyped a game as any have ever been. 0-0, LSU hasn't come close to scoring and has a pick, Alabama has missed 3 field goals with 2 different kickers.
After witnessing Saban's tantrum on the sidelines-- I must admit--I'm impressed the way Fickell can stay cool, calm and collected when the shit hits the fan.
I just thought of something. If the Tat5 would have just kicked the shit out of a bunch guys outside a bar on High St and got arrested for battery, they would all be playing this year
I can buy that synthetic weed stuff up the street...until they take the last 3 packs off of the shelf. Anyone ever tried that stuff besides that top 5 QB recruit that got busted for it last week?
I don't want to hear anything about OSU's offense after watching this load of crap. I thought that the SEC apologists always bragged about how exciting their brand of football is. This game doesn't even come close to 2006 OSU/Mich pre-game warm-ups!
Ouch! Good thing we Columbus residents bailed out the Bluejackets with our tax money (so that they can play to an empty arena). Wouldn't want a near winless team to leave for another city, would we?
Long time reader, first time poster. I can't take it anymore. Over/Under on undwear changes by Danielson and Lundquist calling this game tonight? I'd say 9. These guys are overbearing!
Thoroughly enjoy the site, the spirited debate and insight.
But the honey badger doesn't give a shit. Tyrann Mathieu is probably the dirtiest, trash talking db I've ever seen. He clubs a guy under the facemask, and SEC strokers will defend him.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
LSU will win the game on this drive. As much I hate to see either of these coaches win this game, I prefer Miles over Saban. Saban is probably the only head coach in college football that I assume to truly be a bad person in and outside of his job.
Wow, we're going to OT because no one could move the football with any consistency. So, now they're going to decide it by placing the ball on the 25 for each team, when the ball rarely crossed that line in regulation. It's like the rule book is being invoked because the game was too hard.
How incredibly sad is it that even the crowd seems to be completely out of this game? The announcers are the only ones who are still claiming this to be a great game.
I always say that the Bucks have the best and worst fans in CFB. All of you tonight were certainly part of the best. Take care, brothers and sisters, see you soon. Go Bucks!
If I was either of these kickers I would leave the state of Alabama right after the game. OSU has a crazed fanbase, but Alabamains are crazy. I bet the domestic violence calls will be off the charts tonight.
"Lived up to the hype"--yep, all I heard in these two weeks of hype was that it was a sure thing no one would cross the goal line in 3 1/2 hours of football.

Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Top article on ESPN.com right now is WoJo against a rematch. At least someone there is sensible.
"Classics don't have four interceptions, four missed field goals, 13 penalties, one fumble, one botched punt return and zero touchdowns. A punter shouldn't be the best player on the field in a classic.
Bottom line: Only a classic is worthy of a Jan. 9 rematch in New Orleans. And this wasn't one of them."
Wouldn't it be sweet if this was 2006 sec edition. Two teams that everyone is convinced are the best teams that have rosters filled with future nfl players (through the help of oversigning in this case). That go to their bowl games and get schwacked. Andrew Luck after the game saying "We played 4 or 5 teams in the Pac12 that are better than that." kellen Moore throwing for 500 yards against bama. Bama fans insisting that they lost because they didn't want to play in the lousy sugar bowl. Not saying it's true, but one can hope
Alabama already recently lost in a Sugar Bowl they didn't want to play in against an undefeated Utah team. It didn't seem to affect anyone's perceptions of their talent level in the slightest.
Not saying I don't wish the same thing as you, but since 2006, I've been wishing for that exact same sort of backlash to happen against the SEC and every year it keeps getting worse.
That "Game of the Century" was as dull as watching the Browns beat Seattle in a field goal battle two weeks ago. Dull as game as I've ever seen. CBS's SEC shills were trying to make it exciting. Yeah, like watching my grass die in the winter.
Cris Carter just told it right on Mike&Mike. He said they need to learn about the forward pass in the SEC and that the offense was pathetic, it wasn't "great defense".
On a side note, I generally don't listen to those two dopes but the car radio was on 97.1 and I heard CC talking so I left it there.
P.S. Did Duron end up at Alabama? I didn't watch much of that game but what I did see I never heard his name.
He's at Alabama but I believe he is (still) academically ineligible. He is able to practice though... He played LSU QB Jordan Jefferson on the scout team

Oversigning is a myth everyone, I mean ESPN has never reported on it before /sarcasm

The LSU vs. Ala game strengthens the case as to why Urban Meyer needs to be OSU’s next coach.
"I hope they're last in everything"
Thanks, Urb!
too funny
Well said. Yes I can see it next year and maybe this year too.
I've been contending all week that there is a good possibility that neither one of these teams will even make it to the SEC championship.
i hope both of these teams play terrible...
Is it possible to have two Game(s) of the Century in one century? (Or did I miss that we vacated 2006 wins too?)
Is the south living in the same century as we are?
Not only is this game the "Game of the Century", if you watch the ESPiN documentary RollTide/War Eagle--some are claiming that the Alabama/Auburn rivalry is the greatest rivalry in college football.
I say "excuse me?"
...and they call it the "Iron Bowl". What??? I guess that's one way to make sure that Alabama's teams go to bowl games...
"I hope they're last in everything"
Thanks, Urb!
Yeah, but apparently Bama was really dick-ish to Auburn, going so far as refusing to play in there shitty stadium for years. F*ck 'em both.

not even close, turd. they should have replace him with one of their extra recruits...
Hmm...LSU clamps down, and Alabama with a missed field goal early? Looks like an average college football game if you ask me.
LSU throws an INT and bama returns to the 3 yd line but turns it back over on a botched snap. bama gets a safety and the rest of the game consists of 3 n outs... final score: bama 2, LSU 0. game of the century...
I don't mind CBS's SEC bias because they are supposed to be the SEC Network and they are honest about it. ESPiN on the other hand.........
completely agree
That was a long-ass timeout.
That was a late hit.
I have to put the game on in slow motion just to see the plays develop. #SECSPEED
yea--sure am glad the replays are in slow mo or I could ever see who made the play
That was a bit rich. Gary Danielson blamed Jarred Lee's interception on a low snap. I thought he just threw a bad pass.
What channel is this game on? I thought they said it was going to be a game between the best 2 teams in the nation, best game in 100 years. I can't seem to find it.
Great Special teams play there Tide
Saban is going to have to start oversigning place kickers
Ha!
was that a Vern Lunquist Ha? every game you can count on it. HA....
funny how old vern didn't even know who was on offense for two plays. LSU gets a long completion on a horribly thrown ball, and he calls it an int.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

when did Shugarts transfer to LSU?
Cause I couldn't go for three

I have been known on occasion to howl at the moon. - Crash Davis
They cut Saban's mic on that half time interview-- CBS was afraid he'd drop the f bomb
If this was a Big Ten game, and it was 3-3 at halftime with 3 missed field goals, they'd be saying just how awful these teams are.
I second that!

Indeed. Too true...

There is still time left, but this game is not living up to the hype
I'm fighting the urge to take the nap of the century.
Ha! :-)
Real fans stay for Carmen.
Some one on Bama's staff should sue Saban for creating a hostile work environment.
I bet if we could get Bauserman in the game there would be some serious offensive. These qb's are terrible.
Am I the only one sick of them talking about julio jones?
Hope this is Jared Lee's last year or next year he'll be playing at Southeast North Dakota Jesuit University.
Im rooting for lsu, but i actually felt relieved that bamas kicker made it... if he missed three fg's i would actually fear for his safety.
This has been a scintillating kick scrimmage so far.
I don't want to hear anything about OSU's offense after watching this load of crap. I thought that the SEC apologists always bragged about how exciting their brand of football is. This game doesn't even come close to 2006 OSU/Mich pre-game warm-ups!
Buckeye in PA purgatory
The screwy part of it is that the SEC defenses have fallen off a bit in the last 3 years.
"I hope they're last in everything"
Thanks, Urb!
But these are the best two defenses in the nation! Surely we should excuse the offenses for only putting up 2 FGs each so far, right? /sarcasm
Class of 2010.
But these offenses have never had to deal with the ridiculous speeeeed of an SEC defense before! Oh wait, on second thought . . .

Let-down of the Century
Buckeye born and bred. Buckeye til I'm dead.
So far, both teams have individually been outscored by the Philadelphia Flyers, who scored 9 goals against the Blue Jackets tonight.
Class of 2010.
I was hoping that was a joke, but to my dismay it was not... the Blue Jackets really are that bad
I cannot fathom how hard both the Jackets and Browns try to build a franchise and it fails every God D*mned time. Never fails.

This is pretty weak.
Are we sure this isn't an Australian rules football game?
Positive. The game would be 54-35 by now.
Saban is a bonehead for putting a 1-footed Maze out there to return a punt.
The best play of the Game of the Century so far has been a punt. This is just too great.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Yes, JT is loving this game.
AWWWW! Low blow, brother....low blow....

Secondary play in this game has been phenomenal, but aside from that, it's hard to believe these are the 2 best teams in the country.

LOL. Certainly every time Wing from LSU has come out to punt, they have needed a change of drawers
Very sexy post...does the SEC really suck this bad?

Thanks, Urb!
Dude, if you really think the SEC sucks you're insane. I hate them, but they are a great football conference (oversigning or not.)
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Bama can pin LSU down here with a play action arm punt to the 3 yd line.
Looking at a 9-6 OT game I think here, lmao
Class of 2010.
If Andrew Luck is Peyton Manning 2.0, which I believe he is, I'll take Stanford over both of these teams
Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless.
LSU needs to gain 25 yds here so they can punt with a little waggle room.
Sec is a freakin dirty undisciplined conference

October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I don't know. That game is bad for the opposite reason.
Uhhhhhmmmmmmmm...

Snoozefest of the Century. At least Ohio State - Michigan '06 more than lived up to the hype.
Do you give the advantage in OT to Alabama with Richardson at RB? Or to LSU with a more experienced QB in Jefferson? I'm leaning towards LSU myself...
I give it LSU since their Kicker can make a field goal!

Well that FG kicker lost his scholarship. Off to North-by-Northwest North Dakota Community College for him.
Yeah Saban will oversign kickers this recruiting season

I would think LSU would want to run towards the middle of the field to set up the kicker.

Honored to face that team again? What?! Your team should have lost 15-6. Take your lumps and go play someone else.

Rematch! Wow. Both of those SEC offenses made Ohio State look like cutting edge.
eSECpn is now asking fans if they would like to see a rematch for the MNC. Are you kidding me? So we could watch THAT again??

With all of Saban's oversigning nonsense, you'd think he'd find a kicker somewhere.
Johnny Hooker: "He's not as tough as he thinks". Henry Gondorff: "Neither are we".

Good for him! Truth from ESPN??? I guess even a stopped watch is right twice a day.
Real fans stay for Carmen.
Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless.
Thanks for this. You just warmed my heart:)
Yep, the lame of the century. Yaaaaawwwn
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Game of the Century still > Tebow
