As some of you may have noticed, our site banner is a little stale. Sure, the new coach is featured, but slapping his head onto a sweatervest does not do the Fickell era justice.
So here's what we're going to do: Taking a cue from BuddhaBuck's fine work (featured below), we're going to hold a contest to replace the 11W banner. If you have mad design chops, we'd love to see your work -- as would thousands of other Buckeye fans, no doubt. We'll leave this open for a week and then we'll pick one lucky winner and send them two t-shirts from 11W Dry Goods for their effort.
BuddhaBuck has set the bar (and automatically entered himself into a contest he had no idea about), but we'd love to see what the community at-large can do.
Image Specs:
- The banner should maintain its current size (660x60 pixels).
- The banner should maintain its current frame -- meaning "ELEVEN WARRIORS" and the stripes should stay -- your canvas is the rightmost 264 pixels or so.
- If you'd like, you can download our current banner here.
- You should submit your image as a JPG or PNG and can either link to it in the comments, or insert it (though the comment box is < 660px wide, so you may want to link).
- The banner does not have to feature Luke Fickell.
The Fine Print
- Entrants must be 18 or older.
- Deadline for entries is 9pm ET on Wednesday, September 14th.

I really like the looped script, but there are a lot of great ones on here. I think if you get a lot of good ones a rotation wouldn't be bad. Hoke deep throating the party sub needs some time on the page.

I think you should take the left side, do a grey background with the red letters with white outlining. Then on the right side, do the Heisman winners from OSU history

Thanks for the mention, RBUCK. FYI, the graphic is yours regardless of t-shirts. It took quite a while to render the Buckeye Nation (sans-tsun w/the Buckeye Flag) in a way that it was legible at such a small scale. If you want it, here's a larger map.

Hey everyone. I'm new here and I wanted to submit my design for the banner contest. I thought the text on the original was bland so I added a bevel to create a more appealing and creative touch. For the photo I used the helmet with a full Ohio stadium on gameday reflecting off the visor. I felt this gives a better balance of scarlet and gray and isn't as busy as the ones with the heisman winners/coaches on the right. However I do like those banners very much and I have seen a lot of creativity from my Buckeye Brotheran. Feedback, Comments?
I would avoid using bevel. I'm no expert but I've dabbled in a little bit of graphic design. It's not a very professional look. Pull up the logo of any famous brand and I doubt you'll see a bevel effect. Just trying to help.

Personallly I really like your design. The relief of the lettering is sharp; but the terms of the design contest is to stick witht the 260x60 portion at the extreme right. I would guess that the reason for that is probably because it is difficult to reproduce graphic fonts at various scales that it looks standard, and it is their logo (which should remain standardized). I also reallylike the visored Buckeye at the right. Simple, strong, and well done.

I like this one good job.. but would like it more with some graphic lighting and stuff to it.. i'm not into plain graphics.. I like detail and stuff :)

I like buddabuck's but the jerseys being slightly off color was annoying the crap out of me, lol. They're slightly pinkish. I touched it up a bit so it has more of a focal point and now the color meshes with the left side of the banner a little more.
I love my shock the world and Flipbuckeye one...

When this contest started I got a little worried we'd end up with a banner that sucked by default. I had no idea we had so much photo editting talent on the board (maybe because some of you had admittedly never posted on here before). But now I see that we can't go wrong, there are a ton of great entries so far.

New Banners: If we're going complete redesign, I like Rych's 3rd one down with the grass and the top two as well, and Cob's take too.
Those championship rings not being tilted the other way was a smart move. Not sure if those are vacated, shared, etc. No way to put a price on them. No amount of tattoos in the world... (If we don't make fun of ourselves, someone else will)

11W, what is it that you really want? I see that most of the submitted designs are not according to your stated guidelines... If you want a fully new design, say so. I'd like to know whether to stick to the rules or go maverick like the others.
