It's been three years since the Illini knocked off the 10-0 Buckeyes with the mother of all gut-wrenching drives. Ohio State has largely taken care of business since that painful evening, outscoring Illinois 60-20 in the two games since, but laying the wood to the Fighting Zookers again would only help erase the awful memory of Juice, Mendenhall, Benn & Co. dancing on the 50.
The dullness of Memorial Stadium tends to bring out boring play from the Buckeyes, but if this squad can overcome that obstacle, this one won't be close. And a certain freshman quarterback will get a fitting introduction to Big Ten play.

Comments
anyone know where i can watch this online? i don't have BTN, and i don't see it on atdhe.net
Find yourself the local alumni club TV viewing location...you don't have to be an alum though. If you're at work, then just sneak out....the boss could not possibly mind.
Go Bucks!
Ugh, looks like another student radio game.
My next door neighbor is mowing his lawn. The poor soul, he's going to miss the game!
There's a stream on JTV. I don't see it staying up very long though.
yeah, BTN checks JTV like crazy, i've never had it last very long on there
And there it goes. Oh well. Off to www.ohiostatesports.net
EDIT: check that, back up. For now.
gone again...
I work every saturday, so I have my wife put her laptop in front of the TV and do a video chat on gmail so I can watch the game.
Works great!
woohoo! atdhe just added it :)
Good first series.
No pressure.
Moeller whiffs it big time.
That was so ugly. How did that work at all?
Ok, time to wake up and remember that they're Illinois.
Bad angles, bad tackling, and biting on every play fake so far.
Get it together silver bullets!
OMG PANIC
nonononononononnonononono PANIIICCCC!

Hey let's kick this one in this time.
Mr. announcer, can you please explain the penalty? eh, I guess it doesn't matter. EP is good.
ESPN Gamecast says offsides.
student radio said defensive holding
Another stream here: http://www.watch-sports.com/pro/ncaa-football-streams/328-storytime
Gotta register but they do have a stream.
thanks
Pass D shaky.

Tackling has been iffy so far. Good thing the turf monster got LeShoure on that one Homan missed.
What's the word on Moeller's apparent injury?
come on big kick

Still having trouble running when everyone knows we're going to run. Need to get tougher.
Concern about o-line, +1

My man Jermale Hines missed the tackle there. Nuts.
Our defense is clearly still asleep. Missing tackles left and right. This is ugly early.
I do believe Ill is showing some new wrinkles in the gameplan, but that won't last long.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Moeller's done for the game, maybe far beyond. Reports have him out of his pads holding his arm funny.
missed the first couple drives, what happened to him?
Pulled himself after being in on a tackle and was immediately favoring his arm.
:(((((((((((((((((((((((((((
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
That sucks. Hard to tell (on TV) so far but Bryant seems to be doing OK at star.
9/10 is the new 10/10.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
lol
Was that FG into the wind? Looked good the whole way, glad it missed.
Not sure we are running against bad numbers.
Herron has been hospitalized with Lydell Ross disease
LOL he's just trying to climb the mountain in front of him.
Stutter-step, stutter-step, *blocker*, mmm sweet turf
Time for the defense to get a turnover.
How do we get manhandled all over the place when we play Illinois?
Hankins' impact is always noticeable when he's in there. He didn't even have a direct hit, and Scheelhaase still went flying at the end of that play.
Any Hankins jerseys on sale. Feeling man crush coming on.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
which is odd
because he's fat
Champaign is a tough venue for OSU for some reason.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Saine and Herron are VERY unimpressive.
At some point the coaches have to realize that Boom and Zoom aren't getting the job done. Their good runs tend to be due to large holes opened up that any college-level RB can get through. Put Hall or Berry in there and they can create more space with their athleticism.
Now THAT was a power run.
Alright, now Im complaining. Its pretty freaking obvious its time to let Berry and Hall a chance.
@SAM, apparently Ross-itis is contageos.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Pryor had no chance there. Nice blocking.
Posey's missed a couple of catches he could have had today. It looked like he didn't go after the one on the sideline earlier with both hands, and that last one over the middle was a pretty good throw.
Yeah. Sanzenbacher would have had both of those.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Haha special teams does something great and screws it up with a penalty. Then Illinois calls a TO on 4th and 18.
Suggestions for a new drinking game:
1. Run up the middle for less than 3 yards.
2. Special teams mishap of some sort.
3. Missed tackle.
Any thoughts?
Why do you hate my liver?
If you chose #2, go ahead and take your first drink after that touchback.
This is just bad.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Should have had that fricking punt.
Starting to think the only way we're getting more points this half is off of defensive turnovers.
FIRE JIM
Also drink on any queso dip or chili commercials.
I miss the original Ro-tel/Velveeta commercial. I too want to run into a beauty salon and have a nice looking lady nuke me up some emergency queso dip.
Thank you, Christian Bryant.
We don't pressure the punt and we don't give any protection for Hall. Is everyone just standing around?
GOD DAMNIT... Fucking INT
There was so much traffic over there, wtf Pryor!?
Hey 2009 TP! Welcome to the f***ing party!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
And that was intended for Taurian Washington! They have to know that October is the month farthest from April, so there's no way he would have caught it!
Nothing good ever comes out of throwing to that man.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Does Ohio State have any plays designed to gain yards?
They haven't stopped Pryor's running yet. The only man who can keep him under 200 yards rushing today is Jim Tressel.
Damn, dude. Prescient.
There's some more Pryor running for big yards.
WHO'S READY FOR SOME 2-MINUTE OFFENSE?
Have to come back out throwing, try to score before the half. Get Pryor's confidence back up.
1 INT on the year and they are putting on a defensive clinic. LOL Chris Martin gives me headaches.
Yeah this guy's been an Illini lean all game. Really annoying.
OMG, thank god that wasn't on us...
I just want to see Pryor lower his shoulder and truck somebody just one time.... Seriously.
Man, take off there Pryor...
Terrelle Pryor averaging 43.5 yards per rush lol minus sacks :-(
Plenty of time; no panic please.
Our two minuts offense is too fast!
Lucky Pryor didn't fumble with the way he was holding the ball.
Yeah, that was scary
Need a time out now. dang.
Dane Sanzenbacher for Heisman
yay
good times
Sign Tressel to a 17-year extension
Phew. Glad TP can get his confidence back up now.
I think we all no how fast it goes downhill when he loses his confidence...
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
great fucking avatar
"So put 2 on, put 10 on, WHAT DO YOU CARE IT'S NOT LIKE YOU'RE PAYIN' FOR 'EM!!!!?"
-Doug Heffernan, in regards to Arthur and his stamp needs
Excellent catch!
D needs to stay focused till those 45 seconds are off the clock. I feel like Illinois always squeezes a score in on us before every halftime.
They did it in '08, IIRC.
Sanzenbacher is carrying the receivers right now. Posey's been invisible, and not having Stoneburner really seems to hurt.
Yeah I don't see Posey leaving for the NFL after this year. He needs to build up that resume. Overshadowed by Dane and hasn't been clicking with Pryor as much as everyone thought he would.
Posey might get sticker shock when he learns he's a 2nd-rounder in this year's crop of WRs, and that's being optimistic
Yeah, I agree about him coming back for his senior year. Maybe he's just seeing tougher coverage, but I thought he'd be a lot more consistent this year.
Cool: Marcus Freeman on the sidelines.
Christian Bryant is killin' dudes.
Considering how poorly we played, I'll take this score going into the half.
The defense largely stoned them after that first touchdown drive; the field goal came off the pick, and the missed field goal came off the crappy punt by Buchanan. So I'm not too worried there.
If I'm reading my notes right, Illinois racked up 87 total yards on its next five possessions after the opening 55-yard touchdown drive, for an average of a little more than 17 per drive.
D is stepping up. O-line has to start blowing up off the line.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Our RBs cannot run the ball.
The spread punt formation just flat out sucks for us. Another wart showed with this formation when a team is compressed in the endzone. Buchanan's follow through was into the shield. I mean, the formation is just idiotic.
Yeah, it seems like there is no advantage to that punt formation. Any time there's pressure, it seems like it almost gets through.
Somebody should count how many times the announcer says "what kind of speed do ya got" or "he's got a chance"
Those are the only things he can think of to say when someone breaks one
They finally called a holding penalty on Heyward.
I love how the announcers have yet to mention how disparate the kick/punt lengths are from quarter to quarter.
It's obviously because of the heavy wind.
That was a hell of a punt. Tressel must be green with envy.
Oh God no
Nooooooooooooooooooooo!
Plz just be a cramp.
C'mon, let's end this charade of Bauserman being the backup and put Guiton in.
Creative play, who would've thought we'd run on Bauserman's first play?
We are officially done.
We are officially done.
Gotta be a hammy pull.
That's either a cramp, or a similar injury to the one Denard Robinson had last week for Michigan: simply banging the knee on the turf. Either way, I don't think it's serious.
Dear God, enough of Saine and Herron.
This is a nightmare.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Our best passer, rusher, and playmaker out in one play. Guess we have to rely on our D to score.
Is Saine averaging a yard a carry?
Now we have an ineffective QB, two ineffective RB's that will get all of the playing time, and two effective RB's that won't get any playing time.
Please, just shoot me. This is going to be to terrible to watch.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I'm on a ledge, someone talk me off of it.
Our power run game is really, really bad. Our line needs to step up big time.
I think he tore something. Caught those cleats in the turf.
dont say that
He could also be a little scared because it was same knee he had surgery on.
Yeahhhhhhhhhhh Jermale Hines! Too bad he couldn't have gotten it into FG range though, now Bauserman will have to do something...
Nice INT!
This is crisis mode. Seriously.
Brandon Saine for a yard. Again.
WHAT THE F*** IS HE DOING?!
If we lose, I won't be able to watch CFB for the rest of the day
All that time and he throws a pick? Come on, Joe! Earn your scholarship!
Damn it, Bauserman!!!! WTF.
FRICKIN Bauserman.
Really need Guiton in.
Put fucking Guiton in, seriously. Or get Braxton Miller up there early. WTF.
Ugh.
Is there any chance Braxton Miller will be enrolling soon? Like in within the next few minutes?
Oh God.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
LOLzerman. Please GTFO.
This is like Purdue Harbor and Illinois 2008 wrapped up in one game.
FYI, we kicked Illinois' rear-end in 2008.
Why do we not play Guiton? seriously....what in God's name is bauserman doing for anyone out there..
I hate to be Mr. Backup QB right now, but Guiton is a reasonable facsimile of Pryor, and QB runs have been the only thing that has worked consistently for us today.
I'm really glad their receivers stink.
Guiton is at least a threat with his feet.
Wind must be pushing those punts behind Hall. Another one where he had to almost fall back to catch it.
I'm in the fetal position right now anticipating Bauserman going back in on this possession. FML.
lol...it's not that bad. If he fails again, Tress will put Guiton in the game. Either that or TP is coming back.
Bauserman had excellent protection, got happy feet, rolled out, calmly threw a pick.
This is not a quality backup we're watching.
You know, I'd like to think we're good enough to beat Illinois and Indiana without Pryor, but I'm not sure we are with Bauserman
The Return of the King?
THANK GOD
put him in and let run the boot
At least Guiton has the chance to be Willie Beamon. Bauserman is just that chump extra who comes in and sucks it up between Dennis Quaid and Jamie Foxx.
I dunno, Bauserman seems to be steamin'
steamin' turd
LOL Steamin Willie Beamen
Good our offense has come out of the locker room.
Anyone else feel that our D has a better chance of scoring and the O with Bauserman has a better chance of giving up a score?
Wait... PRYOR BACK, THANK GOD.
Boom > Zoom.
Pryor's leg is hurt not his arm. LET HIM THROW
This play calling is atrocious.
Really don't want to take a risk with Pryor, do we?
3 straight runs... why?
God dammit.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
3rd and 13 draw.
We're draining the clock.
In no way, shape or form should Joe Bauserman ever control the ball under center. Horrible.
That might be the worst call since Todd Boeckman option on 3rd-and-22 against USC.
Completely forgot about that. Might be the worst play call in the history of Ohio State football.
Ouch. Sad but possibly true.
I've reached the tipping point with our RBs. They blow. Time for some Hall & Berry. Or Hyde. Or Rod smith. Or Anyone that's not #1 or #3.
Gotta win this game before we play it this safe with Pryor, need at least one TD.
Jimmy T sees we're up by 4. That's enough for him.
Hear hear.
They are definitely playing it safe. Illinois hasn't been able to do anything on offense, so they are content with killing time. Here we thought Tressel turned a corner with this offense, but once conference play starts it's back to Tresselball.
Well it's Big Ten play now...
Nasty Nate, always in the backfield.
Just when I was about to post "C'mon Coach - it's not time to put this game on the back of the DEF" Nate Williams comes up with a big sack.
My love to Brandon Saine is no more...Boom is the guy
Bleeding the life out of this game.
hurry up offense then let the time run out before the snap?
i like that... just get to the 4th
Ive been referring to Saine as a Ken-Yon Rambo clone for the last two years.
I like Saine.... in the slot. As a RB, yawwwwwnnnnnnnnn.
Saine haters: please remember he scored our first TD today and had a big TD grab against Miami. Not to mention that 50-yarder against Oregon, which was after he scored our first TD of that game.
I don't think people are hating on his receiving ability.
Saines has his moments, just like Ken-Yon did.
Saine needs to be moved to a WR spot. He cannot break any tackles. Herron showed a little bit of talent today in the backfield. But his average today was not very good still. Why wouldn't Tressel put in Hall at all? I mean they were obviously trying to run the ball in the 2nd half.
We need to find one RB and stick with him.
Preferably one of the guys beyond the 2 deep.
Way to juke 'em Saine.
I'll be glad with a win but good lord, this team will get a lot of questions about legitimacy after this game. Tresselball in full force right now.
Jebus, Saine. Just move forward.
And they go back to Saine? WTF?
Play calling is not good.
They teased us with a high scoring and trigger happy offense... now back to Tresselball, and back to hearing the media criticize the Buckeyes week in and week out for final scores under 30, beating unranked teams by only 6-10 points.
I know it's just one game and that we should be used to this, but come on, it's Illinois...
Best throw of the game, let him throw.
Fuckin' A.
WOW, look what happens when we pass...
I'm 24 and already getting grey hair. I thought it was hereditary from my mom. It's not. Tresselball is giving it to me, clearly.
Forward progress?
Go for it. Who am I kidding?
It's a high-percentage play when you've only got 1 yard to go.
Don't run it with Mo Wells!
Don't make me spit my drink.
Is it just me, or does it seem like we're respecting Illinois too much? Open up the playbook! This might have worked will Beanie (god I miss Wells right now), but we've got an incredibly dynamic QB that we're handcuffing to mediocre RBs.
If we hand it off to Saine, or really anyone, after a five step drop, I'm going to shoot myself
Haha, it worked!
Hey Sanka... you dead, mon?
And they didn't get it. Fail.
My fail. guess they did.
Really? Over the left side?
Nope.
QB sneak goddammit.
Why can't we just use the QB sneak?
Bad spot
WOWWWWW....lucked out there
Gift from God.
Damn it. Challenge.
Good luck with that Zook.
hike the fucking ball!!!
+1
Gotta snap the ball there. We got a generous spot... and it could very well get turned over.
I don't think we got it, but how can they overturn it? There's no way to get indisputable proof that he was short when the call was that he got it.
Hard to see video evidence when there's about 500 guys in the pile.
No way they overturn this. Indisputable evidence cannot be seen.
Thank goodness...
He was short

most def.
If there wasn't a pile of bodies right at the 1st down marker, we'd probably have lost that challenge. I don't think he got it.
Is it me or does TP seem a bit testy with JT?
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
I'd be too. Awful playcalling. He's a peacock, you gotta let him fly!
I can't blame him. I understand JT's strategy, but I think Pryor wants to show his team that he isn't hurt.
This is an Illini-soul-crushing drive.
I think this is crushing the soul of everyone involved.
why do you run DIRECTLY into the first blocker?
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Doesn't matter who it is, we just can't run.
If you are going to run use Pryor.
Do our RB's expect there to be holes and they just aren't there? They are running into the backs of the blockers.
PS, I'm going to shake my head if we don't get a TD.
Roll Pryor the frick out!!!
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
WORST PLAY CALLING EVER. SERIOUSLY. GET UP BY 2 SCORES THEN APPLY TRESSELBALL. 1 BROKEN PLAY COULD DECIDE THIS GAME!
the fact we are winning is the only reason this game couldn't possibly suck any more.
I guess it's hate Herron time now? lol...we need some blocking. I could gain yardage behind Wisconsin's line, but Jim Brown in his prime would have trouble running behind ours.
really? Because Im seeing huge holes to the left and right of the first blocker, RB's can make cuts. Saine can't.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
HE'S A PEACOCK, LET HIM FLY. ARGH.
Ole boy on BTN is hitting the nail on the head.

Damn. Nice kick by Basil, though I think he has the wind.

Couldn't have said it any better.
Mmm. Need moar Charissa.
59 yards and milked 7:52 off the clock. Tresselball in full force, for those of you living under a rock.
Yea and left 7 minutes on the clock
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Illinois is showing us what good blocking is on this drive.
whoops...they were..until that play. Nice D.
Remember Illinois rules: A player can toss the ball into the EZ from 5 yards out for a TD.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
all around bad game
Out of bounds?
Oh, for fucks sake....
this is pretty sad. piss poor performance for a vetran team with national title aspirations
OJ really screwed that one up.
Clutch tackle by Nathan Williams...
Nate Williams = bright spot

Really going out on a limb. lol
Milk this m-f'ing clock Tress....
Gutless call by Zooker. He's channeling Chip Kelly.
Guess the next offensive play: I've got hand off to Boom up the middle... What've you got?
i say there is about a 10000% chance of that happening
Play action out-and-up to Posey for 6.
Amazing!
one tipped ball and we are losing this game
Great time for my stream to crap out.
mine's sitll working on that site you sent me, try refreshing the page, or going back to the mainpage and bringing it back up
aint missin much
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
They should just let Herron be qb and Saine can tackle him. That way we cut out the middle man, the illinois defense.
JUST GET 1 MORE YARD, PLEASE. PRETTY PLEASE.
Penalties keeping us in this game. Totally unacceptable.
Thank god. Bailed out of a 3rd and short fail.
Thank you Illin for being equally as terrible and handing us this game.

“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Another big defensive penalty. Cut to an office on campus, where Illinois trustees are starting to fill out Zook's buy-out paperwork.
i'm sure the talking heads won't be all over us for this lowsy performance or anything....
Finally
Will Tress Score here?
Yes he will.
Illini handing us this one on a platter.
Ha...another facemask. That should have been our drinking game.
Where has this blocking/running been all fucking game? Seriously....
BOOM HERRON IS MY HERO!
Howz RB workin out for ya Justin Green?
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
A little salt in the wounds? I like it.
Nice running by Herron, and some good blocking finally too.
Illinois fans cheering on BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(M).
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-urns
Well, at least this score looks a lot better to the voters that aren't watching this game.
SURVIVE AND ADVANCE BOYS
Wow, Illinois just got Tressel-Balled, hard.
With no vaseline.
Can we stop with the Boom and Zoom? I mean we quit the LIC stuff and he's done FAR more to earn a nick name than those 2.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
Hey no one has mentioned the good ST play today.
“There’s one thing I have learned through all my adventures and conquests - it’s that some people are just wired for success. I had no choice when it came to being great - I just am great.” – Kenny Powers
...
Better. Still had that extra point blocked, but nullified by penalty.
If Woody Hayes came back to life today and watch this game...he would think nothing has changed
Wow. Can Illinois commit any more penalties?
LMAO @ Zook pulling his guy off of one of ours. "STFU dude we lost"
Thank God that this game is over. It's in the books and that's all that matters.
Does the sideline reporter actually do anything during these broadcasts? How could we not have some sense of the nature of Moeller's injury?
They probly didn't even notice he was hurt because Bryant was doing a good job.
Haha, classic Ohio St. game. 24-13, controlled the clock when they needed to.
Good win for this team!
The broadcasting team doesn't seem to think so.
I'm not sure we keep our #2 ranking after this. Seemed like the coach QB relationship might have been strained a little this game too. All in all, didn't feel like a good Saturday for us.
I disagree. We will give up some points to Boise State, but will still be solidly #2 (assuming 'Bama does not lose to the Gators).
we're not losing our ranking. Back to reality please.

I didn't look, was the phrase "sphincter ball" used anywhere in this thread? I'm guessing it was.
LOL. Seantrel just got steamrolled.
