Last year, the conferences were tied at three heading into the final day of games. Despite surprising wins out of Northwestern and Penn State, the ACC was able to take three of the last five games to finish 6-5 and capture their 10th straight challenge.
Tonight, we find ourselves knotted up again at three each with just five to play. The action starts with Illinois visiting Clemson and Minnesota playing at Miami at 7:15. Fifteen minutes later, Boston College takes the floor in Ann Arbor, leaving Duke in Madison and of course, the Seminoles in Columbus to cap the night off.
I don't know about you, but I see three wins in that lineup. And then we'll party.

Not to distract from this thread, but you know one thing I actually like about the SEC? In "down" years, there aren't any "well, we were young/inexperienced/not mentally prepared" excuses for coaches who don't get the job done. Heads roll.

When they changed them a few years ago it didn't bother me too much as the changes were not dramatic at all from what I had been used to. And the throwback for Michigan this year was not something I really liked, but I wasn't too bothered by it, either.
But if they actually start wearing weird unis all the damn time I will have a problem. Stop for a long while.

okay let's be real here, JT Money and co has never had a debacle of a season like Georgia just had. even when lydell was shufflin his way to negative yardage on about every down in 2004, the offense clearly improved over the course of the season. really, the biggest target you could have here is bollman, but hell, even the o-line managed to get better as the season went on this year.
should bollman be put out to pasture? yeah, probably like three years ago. but in reality the dude hasn't done anything completely awful except not fielding a line that's lived up to our gigantic expectations. plus the players love him. so I dunno, it's not always that easy of a call to make.
"Not giving up 80 billion sacks to Florida, LSU, USC and even Purdue" seem to be pretty reasonable expectations. I mean, Ohio State is not a passing team, and will probably never be a passing team. We're going to win and lose games on the ground, but... it doesn't hurt to give the quarterback a little bit of a time and at least make an attempt at a balanced gameplan. Especially against the better teams on the schedule. Too frequently, Jim Bollman's lines have come up well short of even the most meager of expectations.

our offense is usually extremely balanced, but that's beside the point. I mean, I agree with you that bollman should be gone, pretty much for the same reasons you said. but since he means so much to the players, recruiting, and Tress in general, and hasn't put out much worse than a mediocre line as of yet (although they haven't been much better than that either), I'm just saying I can see why Tressel doesn't just bump his ass to the curb.

I was in Ann Arbor for The Game and going in I was Ok with the white Nike Pro Combats, but after seeing them live, they were sort of weak I thought. You knew the scarlet version was coming. If the stuff is 35% lighter and shit, you know the players will like them. I just think the design could be a little better. I love our numbers on the current unis, why do we have to have numbers like every other school. Everybody is starting to look alike. Our home unis are amongst the best in CFB. Don't F that up.

I remember that game too. I had just moved from Akron to Albany NY and hung the Buckeye flag out of my window and my neighbors called and asked what the flag with the zero was for. Great place to live but nobody cares about CFB out there. I remember Brent Musburger sucked Jake's snake all night long until Germaine shoved it in their ass, He was a great QB.

They need to make them fit better. If you're going to spend a lot of money to do special uniforms as a marketing ploy, make them actually fit the players. I felt like twice as many players were dragged down by their loose shirt than usual that game. Not to mention that it really hurts a lot of the look.
