Big Deuce and Little Deuce in 3D

I can remember when word of this came out earlier in the year and today ESPN made it official by way of a press release. The USC game will be shown in 3D.

The Galen Center on the USC campus will show the 3D production as well as theaters in Columbus, Ohio, Hartford, Conn. and Hurst, Texas (near Dallas). Tickets will not be sold for this event, however fans will have the opportunity to win tickets to the screenings through 710 ESPN Los Angeles; 103.3 ESPN Dallas and WBNS-FM in Columbus.

ESPN will employ separate production trucks, technical crews and on-air commentators for the 3D and 2D productions. Mark Jones and Bob Davie will announce the 3D game while Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit and reporter Lisa Salters will work the telecast on ESPN and ESPN HD.

Color me not even slightly intrigued.

Spoiler alert – Rumors are starting to surface that USC is so powerful that they need at least two more dimensions to properly broadcast how much better they are than everyone else in college football. Anything less than 5d will fail to show what a statement they make for the Pac10 whenever they play away games East of the Mississippi, or Bowlgames at home in Southern California. Un-named sources report these missing dimensions are key to understanding why the NCAA will not sanction the program now, or ever. An anonymous source says “see in the universe Pete Coaches in, not only is there no competition, but the NCAA does not even exist.” Separate sources also confirm that behind the scenes Pete Carroll is convinced these alternate dimensions explain why he remains unworried about any open investigations, past, present and future. According to Stephen Hawking, a noted expert on space, time and the universe generally “What the Big 10, and SEC fail to understand is that in the world created by Coach Carroll and the boosters of Southern California, space and light don’t follow the same laws as they do elsewhere, there is only USC, and the NFL, and nothing else matters.”

    Cue drum roll and kazoo!

color me sick of ESPN’s maufactured hype and overall idiocy. I love/hate ESPN so much.

3D’s a crappy idea for movies, and even more so for sports.

The only joy I will get out of it is knowing some shmuck’s career will be on the line because of the $millions they blew on the technology.

idk if anyone is watching the Ravens-Jets game but Troy Smith has defiantly revamped his throwing motion. Much more over the top… def has worked at his passing technique over the year… good to see he hasnt given up

    • Buckeye Scottie says:

…and he was throwing DARTS too. Receivers dropped a couple of nice throws for him. I like Flacco, and he as turned out to be pretty good, but it is too bad Troy got sick last year. I still think he can make it as a starter, just may not be in Baltimore.

      • Wil says:

Unfortunately he (Troy) tried to throw 3 passes in a row to the wrong team, and the last 1 stuck.

So, does this mean that the 3D technology is so poor that the Buckeyes really will be the “garnet and gray”?
