I simply don't invest in any NFL team. That way, the only rubric I go by is how many Buckeyes play for a given team in a given game. So this game couldn't have gone better.
I had to go for the Steelers since the Cardinals have more Michigan players: Alan Branch, Gabe Watson, Steve Breaston and Jerame Tuman. Steelers only had Lamarr woodley and Larry Foote.
Also a good rule of thumb. Every time Breaston came on screen I cursed his name; but did same for Woodley as well. Wasn't so good at catchin T-Smith in the backfield as he was with Warner.
santonio has had a lot of really cool and noteworthy things he's done in his college and NFL career, but my favorite memory of him is him waving everybody goodbye after his last OSU home game. whatever mess he gets himself into, he's still a buckeye, and that's cool.
Look, the Steelers have been getting the best breaks and been on the best side of the worst calls over the last 40 years of NFL history. Tonight was no different. Congrats to Santonio Holmes, but the MVP goes to the Review Official who f'ing didn't blow the whistle to review that fumble. I'll never accept this Super Bowl as honorable. Eff the Steelers.
Congrats to Santonio! I too pulled for the Steelers based on Arizona having more UM players and Santonio being a starter here. I was moved to tears when he caught that ball in the endzone with .35 left to play (no matter how much I know about football, I am still a girl). Big moment for him and I appreciate so much how well he represents tOSU.
.....'kay, so now I need him to ask for an exorbient amount of money so he can be traded to a team I can stomach....
of the 43 super bowls have been played all the teams that have won a super bowl are currently still in the league. the league has 32 teams, only 17(!) have won the super bowl. Almost half of the NFL has been shut out. I didn't feel like looking at the other sports but I'm curious to see if there is this lack of even distribution in them as well. Baseball I would imagine is skewed by the fact that the Yankees have won a disproportionate amount.
ill probably agree with you cuz im biased being a buckeye fan but a close second might be 2002 hurricanes with andre johnson, rosco parrish, and kellen winslow(basically a WR). still couldnt beat tOSU with them.
you guys are just jealous browns fans.... he's a buck, he'll always be a buck... jumping off his bandwagon because he now plays for the steelers is like hating your brother because he married an ugly women... you may not like it and think she's a cow with a horse face, but he's still your brother.
While I understand that Holmes was a great buckeye and why you are celebrating the win last night lets remember that this guy admitted this week that he dealt drugs for no other reason than he wanted some money to buy stuff, and is a two time woman beater. Once at tOSU, and then he hit the mother of his child. I will never enjoy anything he ever does again, and this is an example of people loving shitty men b/c they can play a game. The Steelers made the plays to win, the Cardinals gave them all the Steelers could handle, great game, crappy person.
I actually agree with the sentiment, but I think Holmes should be given some slack for showing a willingness to reform. Did he ever get convicted of "woman beating", as you say? I know he was arrested on those charges, but I don't recall him serving a suspension over them.
You do realize that they were reviewing it in the booth, and even if they won, they had 5 seconds to cover 70 yards.
I saw one flag the entire game that seemed kind of weak, and that was the roughing the passer call against the cardinals, on a play where the steelers had made their first down anyway. Just lots of sloppy play on both sides from high emotions and offensive lines that were getting destroyed by the pass rush.
Other than that, Ben wasn't in, Parker was out, and Holmes made the catch. What did you want?
Because it was a fumble.
The game should had been over after Santonio made that one from their own endzone. BS Holding call on the center. Anyway it was a proud moment for all buckeye fans.
Hard to believe we couldn't get a title with Santonio, Ginn, Gonzo, Smith, Beanie, Pittman?!!
Tressel is a JOKE of a coach when you look at it like that. 4 first round picks, a heisman winner, and a Super bowl MVP. Start owning up for your lack of offense in big games. It starts with the play calling and the game plan. There is no way a good coach doesn't get a title with those type of players.

He was amazing on that last drive. Buckeye POtY, for sure.
I called it this morning...Glad for him and Dick L, but the ending sucked... why was there no review??? BS.
But but but but but OHIO STATE HAS NO ATHLETES?!?
Seriously, love the guy, hate the team. Hope he gets traded/otherwise signed to someone I can stand in a few years.

WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!

He was definitely aware of the NFLer of the Year poll shenanigans around these parts.
Hey guys, disgruntled Browns fan here. First of all, screw you Steelers. Second, way to represent Santonio! That is all.
disgruntled browns fan = most redundant use of adjective ever
its fair to say that when ginn, gonzo, and santonio were catching passes from troy smith it was the best college receiving corps ever, no?
rofl

except he did get arrested for domestic violence

i am willing to bet no one outside of your mother, gf/wife, and dog care.
+1

Nah I agree.
I loved 'tone the Buck, but he's now dead to me.
can you say role reversal from the OSU-Texas game for steelers fans?
granted i was pulling for the cardinals, so it was just more of the same for me, however, glad to see tOSU representing tho, great game for holmes
interesting stat that i found:

You're not really that much in the dark about how the review process works, are you dude?
you guys are just jealous browns fans.... he's a buck, he'll always be a buck... jumping off his bandwagon because he now plays for the steelers is like hating your brother because he married an ugly women... you may not like it and think she's a cow with a horse face, but he's still your brother.
Amen. :)

I despise all this 'world champ' nonsense... a team from Pittsburgh beat a team from Phoenix for the NFL Championship.
Matthew 7:1
You're redundant! Got nothin' :(
he just found a michigan shirt in his house, and had to lay down the law.
Hey Matt I know what I've done wrong you think Santonio does?
Jose 1:1 I'll write it out for you.
Don't place drug dealing woman beaters on a pedastle b/c they will keep doing bad ghings.
Things
Yes, I know what you've done wrong, you can't spell
I actually agree with the sentiment, but I think Holmes should be given some slack for showing a willingness to reform. Did he ever get convicted of "woman beating", as you say? I know he was arrested on those charges, but I don't recall him serving a suspension over them.
Also: you should be ashamed if you didn't vote for the Bridgestone ad
now only two more superbowls and another mvp and a few dozen records and he could be as good as tom brady.
You do realize that they were reviewing it in the booth, and even if they won, they had 5 seconds to cover 70 yards.

[...] And Ohio State gets its first-ever Super Bowl MVP. [...]
But there are players from all over the world in the NFL.
But his sperm will never be as potent.
They are not the world champions, they are only the champs in the United States. Now Serena Williams is a world champ!
You guys need to see this site... www.universityofmorons.com
ENJOY!!!!
tim tebow would have won two super bowls last night. im not impressed.
And yet Plaxico was worse, right? Kind of like dog fighting (Vick) was worse than murder (Ray Lewis) and drugs (Jamal Lewis)...
I want the steroids that james harrison is on
Played at Kent St,, cut four times in the NFL, and now he's one of the most freakish athletes in the league!!
The NFL equivalent to Sammy Sosa, if this guy played baseball, theyd be all over his ass.
Screw the Steelers and the Browns!!! Bengals in 2050!!!!
"Bengals in 2050!!!!"
Let me try that again...
"Bengals in 2050!!!!"
As long as Mike Brown doesn't find a way to live that long, they may have a chance then.
Jack Lambert also went to Kent State. Steelers do like them some MAC linebackers.
Because it was a fumble.

YOUR
GAY
Absolutely right my man. Also, can we kill Tressel too for his transgression? And preferably his family? Easily justified.
You = Fail
Kent Read Kent Write Ken return interceptions 100 yards for a TD.
You're a JOKE!
