I realize I'm tempting fate a tad here and Bear Saban may have a 438-point comeback up his sleeve, but I like my chances, so I'll roll with it.
Playoffs, anyone?

This is so awesome to watch. Utah came in with a brilliant gameplan on both sides of the ball and so far it is working to perfection.
I think that field goal was the part when Pittman scored on that 18-yard run at the top of the 2nd in 2006.
I hope the Buckeyes are watching this and WANT to play inspired football.
This is what it looks like.
We should have known by their loss last season to Louisiana-Monroe that Bama can't hang with the speed of the teams from non-BCS conferences.
WTF!!! Why can't our Buckeyes take these clowns to the woodshed?!
Can we delete this thread? The margin is getting smaller.
I knew I shouldn't have put it up.
Tide are roaring back. Already looking over, and they're still down 11.
Nah. Bama is still confused as hell by the pass rush. Their DL stunts are working to perfection. Maybe if Bama can score 3 TDs on special teams or defensive turnover.
ROTFL!
My apologies to Corey for posting the following comment on his b-ball preview thread...anyway, here goes...
Two years in a row, Ohio State draws SEC teams in BCS bowls. Now that Alabama and Georgia are good matchups…Ohio State draws a Big 12 team.
The college football gods hate OSU.
Remember, the players follow the demeanor of the HC.
You jinxed 'em, Jay. We had this if you didn't get antsy.
(Also, I was milliseconds away from posting this: http://i41.tinypic.com/148p3r8... on either my blog or some random comments section here)
Bama is not down as much as UK was earlier today. I still can't believe ECU choked it away, but I'm happy for Mike Hartline.
The bowl season has been 90% Big 12 defenses getting shredded (Tech, Okie State, Missouri and Kansas too, albeit to a lesser extent). I take some solace in that.
Wilson is a senior. Why is he throwing late, across his body, over the middle without squaring his body?
Is that supposed to be a pyre in hell or something? I like it.
Todd Boeckman should be able to answer that for you, Tom.
It's the collapse of Sauron's Tower in the final LOTR flick. Dorky, I know.
Oh yeah...that's why it looked somewhat familiar.
Not the same case. Todd is like 35 years old so his reflexes aren't like they used to be.
Thanks a lot. I have Coke Zero all over my laptop screen, keyboard, my new laptop tray, couch and coffee table now. :-)
I heard they lost his walker on the flight out to Tempe. So much for the dual QB packages.
Man, I hate Barry Switzer...for being Barry Switzer.
If Bama comes back, I'm going to look pretty stupid.
"Playoffs, anyone?"
Yes, please.
Pfft. Nobody owns a crystal ball that actually predicts the future or anything.
I thought it looked hopeless for Bammer at 21-0 too
A JPW interception would be nice right about now.
THIS looks like the team that lost to Michigan. No running game whatsoever.
Thank you, Bama tackling.
Scratch that, who needs a stinking running game?
Fox Sports was whining about Tressel keeping Pryor out of media day, and the Dispatch has an article about Bollman not being too happy about the tidbit about Boeckman and Pryor being on the field at the same time.
Think there's a connection?
Yeah, it looks like Bama forgot how to tackle and catch the ball during the break.
I think the Bucks have a few players that just don't care. They don't seem to have any fight in them when they're down or have the odds stacked against them. the '02 team had heart.
Hopefully we can overcome this problem Monday night.
Why does watching Bama look soooooooooo familiar?
Alabama having to re-shuffle its line is having a major effect on their offense.
Its amazing we have men with computers that are smart enough to figure out who the best teams are without having them play eachother on the field, You would think with this kind of knowledge and foresight they would be doing alot more important things, like curing cancer.
Bama = Ohio State with an offensive line
Their o-line looked a lot like OSU on that last 3rd and 2. And so did that obvious running formation.
Brian Hartline is not good enough to play for Utah.
But would he poison the locker room?
No, he'll just disappear during big games.
Test. (My last two submitted comments are not visible to me...WTF???)
Yup.
Dear Utah Utes,
Please, just give me 15 more minutes. Please, hold on.
I need this. My coworkers need to be harassed when I get back. They deserve it and I need it.
Please hold on.
With love,
Vico
Good lord, a 3rd and 3 and they didn't have enough time for a slant?
Vico, I figured you'd be a pretty big Utes fan tonight.
Over/under on the amount of time it takes ABCESECPNDISNEYCTHULUCORP and CBS sweep this game under the rug and pretend it never happened, should the Utes hold on?
My guess: 15 seconds.
If that was an OSU DE, it would've been a roughing the passer penalty.
It did look kind of iffy.
No doubt. LOL at the cthulu reference...
Anyone hear Herbsreit's comment during the Rose Bowl about Taylor Mays looking good in his uniform?
Yeah. I've disowned him as a Buckeye for that and for saying the word "speed" to describe USC 20 times in the first 15 minutes of air time. It sounded to me that he prepped for the game by reading Boi from Troy. I'm sure he's divorcing his wife right now so he can go get himself some Trojan love.
Yes. The man wears highlights in his hair. This should surprise no one.
What game?
Bama-Utah. Is it musty under that rock?
You tell me, it's YOUR house...
So since Espn picked up some SEC games in a few years they are gonna hype the shit out of that conference,
What will they say about their almighty Bama?
Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
Hey, have you seen the real estate market lately?
The refs are doing their best to hook Alabama up.
Are you kidding? The SEC has already had a Goebbels in ESPN for many years.
Touche.
Please... 5 minutes Utah, please. I'm pleading with you.
I need this.
I think we all need this.
MWC Speed.
Utah is four-and-a-half minutes away from having more bowl wins against the SEC than THE Ohio State University.
Groan.
The looks on the Alabama fans right now is priceless.
Yeah. And the biggest reason is running plays the other side doesn't expect. Novel idea, that.
You mean we shouldn't play right into their hands? We should diverge from the game tape we've provided?
That... that sounds like commie faggot shit to me.
"That… that sounds like commie faggot shit to me."
I am not Herbie, Coach Heacock.
But I really need this. My coworkers in Alabama have a world of shit-talking coming their way if this holds.
I think I have decided to be the mid field ref for the OSU and TEX game Monday night so I can use my flamethrower on the osu O line. Then that should speed em up and get the BUCKS a W. : )
31-17. Alabama got punked by a Mountain West Conference team. Classic! So much for that SEC SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!
Utah has no use for your spread, your MNC, or your supposedly superior conference.
Bama defenders were so fast they couldn't help but overpursue.
I might cry.
I just might cry.
I just might cry, the sweetest tears since January 2003.
Give 'em hell, vico!
Kinda sad, when you think about it. Talk all sorts of shit, compadre.
SEC teams just don't see this type of speed -- particularly from the defensive line -- on a consistent basis.
14 point loss? Man, Alabama got blown out.
Oh no wait, that's only Ohio State.
I think its time the SEC faces up to it: they simply don't have the athletes to compete with the elite teams in MWC.
Yep. The MWC is now hovering somewhere above the rest of college football and just below the NFL right now. (Yes, I stole and reworded that comment from an SEC fan after 2006.)
You know what's going to happen now? The media will start churning out excuses faster than you can blink. After all, for two years now, they've been pounding us that the (mythical) SEC speed is too much for any other conference to handle. Now they have to come up with an ass-saving of a lifetime.
They just don't have the athletes. It's the speed of the MWC vs the power of the SEC. Such a slow, plodding conference.
Saban is Big Ten mentality. The margin of error for a ground and pound team is small, especially if their defense is not playing well. Add in an inept offense, it is upset time. There is a lot to be learned from the Sugar Bowl. I am so tired of the hate towards the Big Ten. We need an tOSU and Oklahoma victory, just so I can get on some other notable blogs and tell them to SHUT THE F_CK UP...
They're dinosaurs. The game is passing them by, and the SEC will be irrelevant in the next couple of years, if they're not irrelevant already.
(More stolen and reworded comments from an SEC fan...)
Well, Saban was on the OSU coaching staff in 1981. Meh. Let them talk.
There's only one excuse they'll use. It was an abberation; the SEC can't be expected to win every game, after all.
I was just looking at a couple of bama message boards, and all I can say is "WOW".
One loss after a great season and they are ready to throw their coach under the bus.
Those fans sound alot like Buckeye fans wanting to throw Coach Tressel under the bus.
Ah, I've already gotten five preemptive emails from SEC fans pointing to Georgia and Ole' Miss.
It must be nice to see ignorance and denial as family friends.
You should've told them Tommy Tuberville is available.
Knuckledraggers = 0; Ute Mormans = 1
Tell them when we did the same thing in previous years, the argument fell on deaf ears.
Or all that cornholing in the backwoods of bama caught up with them against a state that goes big with polygamy! Yeah polygamy!
Now Oklahoma just needs to win. If Florida takes another championship they'll have no problem ignoring the Alabama loss as an aberration.
Utah looked brilliant tonight. Although I thought that they were going insane with the trick play on 3rd down with 4 minutes left.
We need to be recruiting out of Utah and Wyoming more. I'm not sure the Buckeyes have enough Mountain Time Zone speed going forward.
It is, but I guess it's just hard to relay how unmerciful the locals in Tuscaloosa have been since I moved down there just in time for the 2006 season.
Utah 25, Michigan 23 This was a sign of how far Michigan had fallen (and yea they do suck). Wonder how they'll try to spin it. I'm listening ESPN
you win the god damn award. awesome
No matter how bad we lose or how bad any other team in the B10 lost their bowl games, at least we didn't get destroyed by Utah. The same Utah that had to work to beat Michigan.
First, too Bad OSU did not get to play Bama.....
second, I hate Saban for what he did to my Dolphins... a liar, piece of crap human being. Utah deserves some respect... an undefeated season deserves mention for the National Championship. Oklahoma needs to beat Florida and OSU needs to beat Texas.... then lets hear the excuses from the ESPN types.
Is Herbstreit starting to piss anyone else off?? This guy forgets that he was an Option Quarterback at a Big-Ten School..... he did not play in the SEC.
[...] Delighting In Bama’s Misfortunes (Eleven Warriors) [...]
Herbie is turning into a real hack/tool. I was always on his side. Used to be very fair and balanced in his analysis. If we sucked, he told us. If we were good, he told us. But now he's just falling into the ESPN/MSM line. Did anyone else hear him towards the end of the Rose Bowl? He and Bret were just talking like Penn State didn't just score 17 fourth-quarter points to pull within 14 of USC. They didn't want PSU to win, because then it would harm their network's Big Ten-bash-fest afterwards. Plus, ESPN/ABC had it out for PSU as soon as Joe Paterno didn't want to do that "contractually obligated" interview. That network is just a bunch of immature pricks. And Lisa Salters is a PSU graduate!!! If it wasn't for Joe Paterno, her fame would be non-existent. He put so much money and support into womens sports... yeah, Lisa, your sports.
