Those of you that liked Joe’s Chic feature will love this book from Bob Hunter of the Dispatch.

This three-disc set is a must for any student of Buckeye game film. Disc one features the 1979 victory that sent Earle’s first squad to the Rose Bowl undefeated thanks to a Todd Bell touchdown off of a late blocked punt, disc two is the 2002 nail-biter that earned the Buckeyes a matchup with Miami and the third disc is the shootout from 2006.

This book is worth it just for the photos alone, but the essays from years past and the all-decade teams add extra depth. It’s certain to add a level of manliness to any coffee table.
War As They Knew It: Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler and America in a Time of Unrest
We’ve covered this a couple of times on the site and if you’re a good Woody disciple and thirst for historical context next to anything you learn about the Buckeyes, look no further.

    What is Barwis?

  2. Olentangy says:

A shirt using the phrase ” out of hound” would be…well you know!

  3. Corey says:

    Steve-

Barwis is the S&C coach at Michigan who allegedly revolutionized their strength program this past off season.

  4. flipbuckeye says:

LOL @ the Barwis shirt and the completely irrelevant insult. It’s like a sign you’d see on Gameday.

  5. BuckeyeSki says:

A shirt that said 11W on the front and “Out of Hound since 2008″ on the back would be a hot seller

  6. BuckeyeSki says:

Festivus celebration followed by a Buckeye win in the Fiesta sounds fantastic

  7. BuckeyeSki says:

I went back home to visit with some of my high school buddies over the weekend, and got the obligatory buckeye bashing that has followed me since birth, and one of my friends that goes waaaaaay back has the mind to be like “Ohhh, tOSU sucks man, when are you going to start liking a different team, etc, etc.”

So I had no choice but to retort “Dude, we win Big Televen championships like you take shits in the morning….its a given.”

    End of Discussion

  8. Kyle says:

Ski I suggest you smash the next “friend” who bashes OSU in the face with a shovel. Make an example and the rest will shut up. Nobody likes a shovel to the face bro.

  9. BuckeyeSki says:

    LMAO @ Kyle-

To be honest bro, where I’m from, its routine buckeye bashing, has been since like middle school circa 1994. LOL I’m such a homer about it, and all my clothes are basically buckeye pride march so I set myself up but fuck ‘em here comes the shovel

  10. buckeyebrowny919 says:

what are you talking about? i thought the scarlet and gray shovel was an obligation to be passed down in ohio state families already..got that shit back in elementary school from my dad since he had already beat the shit out of all his friends and had no more

  11. buckeyebrowny919 says:

and yes god YES to the Out of Hound shirt..i use that crap everyday and it is now a constant phrase between my fraternity buddies..did i mention how bad ass i am in teh fact that i live in Virginia and have that shit flying high?

  12. BuckeyeSki says:

Guys I got my girl and most of my close friends using the out of hound statement on the regular

  13. Tyler says:

Yeah Ski, you need to drop the hammer on dem sum’bitches like mutha fuckin John Henry on crack!

I’ve found the only person talking shit after a shovel to the face is the person holding the shovel.

  14. BuckeyeSki says:

Im always coming back with shit like “Ohhh, yea, I’d like to empathize with you about your team, but being a buckeye fan, we always have a winning season”

  15. Jaxson says:

O/T, but LOL at the dude from Cincy trying to call out OSU in that video. That is beyond comical!

  16. BrutusReport says:

Helping out the Eleven Warrior cause.

  17. Tom Blogical says:

T-shirt: “11 Warriors” on the front, “Out of Hound since 2008″ on the back. Yes or No. Sounds like good 11W Poll fodder.

My vote is YES. Who do I write the check to?

  18. Bucksfanxc says:

Out of Hound should be a sticker

  19. poguemahone says:

I vote we all buy an “Out of Hound” t-shirt and wear it to the USC game. Tickets optional.

  20. Jason says:

We’ll have to figure out something in terms of merchandising that ever-so-popular catch phrase.

Also, just checked out your new blog, poguemahone and no wonder you’re always so down on the Buckeyes. Been a fan since just 2001? The Cooper years, if nothing else, would have you seeing just about everything in a glass half-full light.

    Good work so far, though.

  21. poguemahone says:

Thanks. I was 11 and under during the Cooper years, most of those awful memories would probably be repressed anyway. Freud would have had a field day, I imagine.

  22. blazers says:

    damn pogue, you’re a youngin

  23. Poe McKnoe says:

Who says big men aren’t marketable?

    Boom.

  24. bup bup bup says:

i have that ohio state cornhole kit… don’t get it. the surface is way too slick and the bags slide off like they’re coated with teflon

  25. bup bup bup says:

also it’s made out of pretty flimsy wood. you’d be better off just making a set yourself. it’d probably be a lot cheaper too.

  26. jfunk says:

Pardon my ignorance, but someone needs to explain the “Out of Hound” thing to me…

  27. buckeyebrowny919 says:

it was a mispost in one of teh blog posts and instead of out of hand it said “out of hound” and we started makign fun of them and it’s really just took off from there…the fact that you just don’t know that is out of hound

  28. bup bup bup says:

what i love about out of hound is that it’s not like the dude accidentally just changed a letter, he had to change a letter and then add another one to get hound instead of hand. which seems to indicate that he was thinking of the word hound when he was typing, but that’s crazy, why would anybody be thinking of the word hound when they meant to type out of hand?

it’s a pretty great typo, and needs to be in the 11W terminology section (which i just discovered, all cfb blogs need this feature)

  29. Jason says:

bup, I wish I could say that I had Cujo on in the background when I wrote that. Snatch. Something…

Anyway, I put it up on the terminology page. It’s earned it.

  30. bup bup bup says:

    yyeeeeeessss

    d’yah lik dags?

  31. Matt says:

Jason et al., are you guys still planning on breaking down the picture/film thing that you guys have done for the other games in the past? Not sure if MgoBlog has the balls to do so after that blood bath, but thus far he hasn’t put anything up. Maybe that is coming later this week, but I wouldn’t blame him for not wanting to relive that agony. I know its been over a week since the game, but I for one would love to see just how bad Michigan played in that game via picture breakdown. Watching it live, the game was such a blur, a gleeful drunken shout-fest blur.

  32. Jason says:

Matt, we’ll have something out in the next week or two looking at the footage. I think Brian is going to run his UFRs this week.

  33. poguemahone says:

    “What?”

    “Dags? D’ya like dags?”

“Oh, dags. Sure. I like dags.”

  34. Matt says:

I just found this article, referenced in the Doc Saturday article recently posted on the 11W sidebar about Kiffin and Spurrier. It’s a Michigan Daily article, written write after Tressel gave his “In 310 days in Ann Arbor” speech at halftime.

    http://www.michigandaily.com/content/variations-jim-tressel-guarantee

Hindsight, sometimes, can be an insufferable bitch:

“What struck me was not Tressel’s lip service, but the general disregard with which it was treated at least in Ann Arbor.

Even the most zealous Michigan supporters could do nothing but chuckle at the very idea of an Ohio State victory in the Big House next season.

The Wolverines not only return Heisman Trophy candidate Drew Henson and an improved defensive front seven, but will also have the No. 1 incoming freshman class. Meanwhile in Columbus, recruits are abandoning a ship with a Division I rookie at the helm who has yet to hire a crew.

Add the fact that Ohio State has not won in Michigan Stadium since 1987, and who could blame local newspapers for essentially burying Tressel”s comments beneath the other news of the day? Nobody around here (outside Schembechler Hall) is taking him seriously.”

Although the writer is somewhat prescient at the end of the article:

“So it seems to me that just when you think you”re completely okay, you”re usually doomed.

I don”t know if Jim Tressel is the right man for Ohio State. I don”t know if the Buckeyes even have a chance this November.

But I am sure about one thing: Tressel is counting the days.

And for that reason alone, so am I.

    306.”

Ahem, that would be 1,837 days now. Since Michigan last beat Ohio State.

And some 2,191 days until Michigan has a chance to beat us again. Although I wouldn’t hold my breath.

  35. flipbuckeye says:

    “It’s for me ma.”

    “What?”

    “HIS MA.”

  36. BuckeyeSki says:

    Don’t ye be fergettin’……perrywinkle blueeeee!

  37. tampabuckeye says:

How do you not start Bj Mullen. Matta is a JOKE.
