Well i read articles like this one over at ESPiN's excuse for a blog:
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/big...
and i can't help but think, "they almost lose to Ohio cuz they were looking ahead, and they still can't their heads out of their asses?!"
I do actually think that barely winning that game was the best thing that could have happened. But not if the players agree with me! If the Ohio game woke them up and made them see that they are fallable if they don't execute and work hard, then it was a wasted lesson.

Continue the hate fest! I think we can all agree that the Toledo war was one contest we should have thrown. Fuck the glass city and fuck bald local TV sports guys. I have to assume he is pandering to his UM viewership, otherwise, not sure why a local douche thinks he needs to get on the negative prediction train. Attention local sports douches, no one will give you credit, care or like you more because you predict an Ohio State loss. In fact, you are way better off being a kool-aid drinker, trust me, your Q rating will thank you. Maybe if he gets ushered out of market 75 he can find a new home in more northern michigan. Can't think of a time when a local sports guy was toasted for being a homer, that is all these people are good for! Leave objectivity for the real analysts, not converted weathermen. i cannot fathom why anyone who lives in ohio would not be at least an implicit Ohio State supporter unless they were a horrible contrarian douchebag.

it's like dave chapelle (yellow springs) said when a dude booed when he mentioned at his show at the schott that he was glad to be back in Ohio:

"wait what? boo? who the fuck boos where they're AT? 'BOOOOOO BOOOOOO FUCK MY SHOES, BOOOOOOOOO!'"

Please don't hold this a-holes comments against all of Toledo.
There are a lot of VERY local Buckeye fans in NW Ohio.
Besides, it's bad enough having to live so close to Ann Arbor!

Send the a-hole your well wishes here:

I second ToledoBen, I'm born and bred in Toledo and I'm a proud OSU alum (spring 2005), so don't question these Toledo buckeye credentials, perhaps by others that can't rightly call themselves alums.

I was always under the impression that Toledo was more of a Michigan town than a Buckeye town. Is it closer to 50/50?

Set your avi

It's pretty close to 50-50; but there are too many Michigan d-bags for my tastes. Mostly people that barely ever travel to Michigan, and like the Detroit Tigers, and like the Wolverines to set themselves apart from others.

Wow, I love the bucks, too ... but it's an opinion people. And, by the way, we do not have the right to be thumping our chest right now. Until proven otherwise, this team is a notch below the elite. Have you been alive the last two years, or just too stupid to notice that we have been embarrassed??? It's not that we lost two NC games, it's that we couldn't even play with those teams for three qrs

Chuck...You seem like the type that would like to blow-out an also-ran bowl game. Gotta be in it to win it. UF was a blow-out but I was under the impression we lost by two touchdowns to LSU. Is Okla a "notch below the elite" after losing their 2 NCG and also-ran BCS games? Losing a BCS game does not make you "a notch below the elite" it means you coached and played a bad game. Was UF "a notch" more talented? I don't think so, it was scheme and effort. Was tOSU 2002 "a notch above" UMiami? I would go with scheme and effort on that one too. If you have been so embarrassed to be a tOSU fan, I'm sure Alabama is taking applications. Please don't spill the ESSEECEE kool-aid here.

Damnit ... Toledo is still in Buckeye country! I live just north of Toledo in _ichigan and we're representing there too.

Fanning works for the lowest rated station in a lousy market. It's the station where retards go to get their start or where retards from other markets come to die.

Toledo gave us a great Buckeye in Jim Jackson. And great Buckeyes of the future - Dane Sanzenbacher, William Buford, and 2009 football commit Jack Mewhort.

Yet another example of why "FOX News" is an oxymoron.

Still, he's not wrong. He's wrong to address delusional Buckeye fans only, since all Buckeye fans have an insane amount of pride. At the end of the day, we have the talent, we have the coaches, we have the speed, we have the playbook. What we don't have is the mental game. When bad things happen in an elite matchup, the Buckeyes go into meltdown mode. They were fine against Penn State and they were fine against Wisconsin. But they weren't fine against LSU or Florida. That's what's separating this team from all the others - the ability to stare in the face of adversity against an elite opponent, and say "I'm going to destroy you."

Once that happens, this team is going to be outrageously amazing. Beanie is the best at that, so he's a must-have on Saturday.

Anything north of Akron is Canada.

And if you, as a Buckeye, find yourself living in a town that is 50% occupied by fans of TTUN, it is your solemn duty to burn said town to the ground and start over.

This guy is a class a douchebag there is no doubt about that.

Anyone that would blast Ohio State for barely beating an annual middle of the pack MAC team coached by former Nebraska legend Frank Solich is just way off base for thinking Ohio State might be overrated for the third year in a row.

It's like the guy is getting Navajo smoke signals from the folks up in Ann Arbor telling him what to say.... you know they don't have phones up there.

The FBI should put an APB out for this guy - they may have already - because when Ohio State fans get their hands on him they are going to slam his head into a squash wall.

If Brad, excuse me, douchebag, said something like this about my team I'd burn the guys kitchen down or maybe push him down some steep steps and dislocate his shoulder.

This guy is over the top.

Brad Fanning has history on his side. The big..errrr little ten is slow and the game is passing the league by. Say what you want about Fanning, and believe me, I have said plenty of things about his lack of covering womens golf and bowling, but in terms of reporting the facts about OSU's ability to get it done, you can't argue with his facts.

What is the best predictor of future behavior? History.

Stay with it Fanning, USC rolls and rolls big!

Brad Fanning is like that guy from high school that gets his GED and then goes around town thinking he is cool because he has a tricked out Monte Carlo with special rims and a $5,000 stereo system.

He really makes me want to vandalize a taco bell. Or go total Keith Moon on a hotel room, maybe pull his pants down in public.

Man is he frustrating.

I like to quote Metallica when I get pumped for a Buckeyes game...obviously this guy doesn't get the pride I have when I fly my OSU flag over my trailer. If only I had cable or a big satellite dish...

Why doesn't this little piss ant go cover something that has no value in the real world like politics and leave important stuff like the Buckeyes to real newscasters...

Hey Tonkin - great Metallica reference. Me and a few of my boys back "in the day" used to go the OSU games after listening to that song and trying to determine if Keystone Light really does taste like beer in a bottle coming from a can.

Hey Fanning, quit being a jerk! My wife/cousin says your just trying to get my goat. I say, no way, your just a Michigan lover living in Ohio. Did you go to Michigan? I'll bet a weeks pay that you have one of those dumb a** bumper stickers on your vehicle that reads "I cheer for Michigan and whoever is playing Ohio State". You make me sick like I drank bad beer all night!!!!!!!!

The irrational Buckeye fans are indeed irrational. As I read through the posts it is clear that the Buckeye fans are more concerned about Brad being a Michigan fan then whether what he has said is true. Maybe the piece struck a more sensitive nerve in the Buckeye nation? Brad put something out on the table for the fans to think about.

What he said wasn’t that OSU is bad (though they have been) just that they haven’t lived up to their potential. This makes them human. Normal almost, like teams they don’t want to be compared with say “Michigan” and dare I say “Notre Dame”. Hey, OSU is better than both of those teams but until they beat someone like USC the OSU faithful need to listen to the rational side of the story mainly that a #1 ranking this year just isn’t in the cards. Maybe a Rose Bowl, maybe a win versus U of M but no title game this year Buckeye fans. Enjoy a year of living in the real world.

Spock, that is a great point you bring up. There is an African proverb, you may be familiar with it Spock, that says, "Blind belief is dangerous."

I appears that is what Buckeye fans have... blind belief.

These guys need to go into L.A. and win the ballgame or they are no better than the team that took the field that last two seasons.

Brad isn't a hater of Buckeye nation as a whole, but I can see how Blinded Buckeye Nation members woulddn't like him because he is pouring some salt on the wounds of the last two years.

Clearly, Brad is short, mildly unathletic or he wouldn't be a sportscaster. That opens him up to a lot of criticism but I commend the guy for living in the middle of Buckeyeland and having the courage to tell the truth. Most Buckeye fans gotta have these same feelings they just don't voice them.

What the Buckeyes are really missing this year is a pass rushing DE like say a Karl Burrell or a pass-catching TE like Wade LeDuke.

Truths that should be told:
1. OSU is better than Michigan, but so is Utah
2. OSU is better than Notre Dame, but so are most of the high schools in Toledo.
3. OSU would be a middle of the pack SEC team.
4. The hourshoe is also a second tier facility behind LSU, The Big House, The Coliseum, and the Swamp.
5. Fanning has a better chance of dating a supermodel than OSU beating USC.
6. Fanning would be 5'5 with an afro.
7. OSU fans, your showing your mullet haircut, wifebeater T-shirt, keystone light drinking, side with your comments about Fanning. You've got whipped the last few years, don't argue.
8. Miami of Ohio is inquiring about scheduling OSU for homecoming next year.
9. I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue.
10. Metallica rocks.

Good morning Suckeye Nation. I assume most of you irrational OSU fans will have a hard time reading this today with your eyes red and swollen from the all night cry fest you just experienced.

For those that are fans of the short, balding one you know that Brad hit the proverbial home run this weekend. His fact based critic of the "Suckeye's aren't as good as the fans want them to be" was spot on. A gutsy move for a guy who lives in a van down by the river in Suckeye Country.

In my previous post I thought that Brad had hit upon a raw OSU nerve with his outlining of the Suckeye season. After Saturday it became clear that there is something bigger brewing in Suckeye land then just another loss to a good team. With 19 returning starters OSU never challenged USC and had 2 first downs and 30+/- yards of total O in the second half. The irrational fan will say "Beanie" didn't play others would have you believe that the players are great but Tressel can't keep assistant coaches and coaching is the reason for the underachievement. Could this be a coaching issue? Maybe.

These same kinds of remarks were heard in Ohio many years ago in the City of Cleveland. At that time the Ohio crazies were saying the same thing about the Browns (not the new Browns but the old Browns before they moved and changed their name). Yes, the Brown's had their own Jim Tressel a guy by the name of Schottenheimer. Very good teams, good players but couldn't get it done in crunch time. Ultimately Schottenheimer went from being the golden boy in Ohio to a "dog" (no pun intended of course). His play calling became predictable, he never took a chance and though he had better talent he just couldn't get it done. Does this sound remotely familiar to those living in and around the Columbus area?

Many in Cleveland thought that Schottenheimer should have stayed keeping the Browns a perennial 10-6 playoff team by grinding it out in the trenches playing smash-mouth football. Many in Columbus still think that the Suckeyes have been losing the big-time games the last few years because of some fluke or another. Could it be that when it comes time for a big game with a team that has talent the OSU game plan is as predictable as the dotting of the "I" during a home game?

Brad, good job on coming out of the closet with your Suckeye prognostication. We both know that it wasn't all that hard from a fact based standpoint. Suckeye faithful you should feel secure knowing that Columbus is home to a perennial top 10 football power. Things are really quite good today in Columbus. Remember when you were waking up every year after OSU got mowed down from the group in Ann Arbor. National dominance using an ultra predictable scheme like OSU does (questionable at best).

I'm sure that next weeks thriller game will be a chance for you to thump your chests and indicate that last night was just an off-night. Good luck getting through the Big 10.

What sounds a lot more irrational.......being an passionate, sometimes irrational fan of a team that has been in a BCS game 4 years in a row or talking trash about a 10-2, #10 ranked team when your favorite team is 3-9 and one of the worst teams in college football?????? I dont think you need Einstein to figure that one out. Ill be honest, one of the most irrational things I have ever heard is Brad Fanning continuing these irrational posts and him and Michigan fans continuing this hate fest when his favorite team is 3-9 and got beat by 5 touchdowns in their last game by the team they are hating on. Its okay. I will admit that the Buckeyes havent done well in their last 4 games against top 5 teams but Michigan hasnt exactly done well in their BIG games against Appalachian State and Toledo..................lol. And Brad Fanning did blast Buckeye fans about lowering expectations and letting their team mature on one Irrational Buckeyes show. The truth is Michigan fans need a lot more to lower their expectations and let their team mature..........a winning record next year may be way too much to ask.
