Focusing on the positives during such trying times for Buckeye fans can seem difficult. As a man that "draws sustenance from the suffering of Michigan fans" according to his Eleven Warriors profile page, I sympathize with many in the Dubcast audience today as we gaze together upon a world without justice.

A blasphemous abomination. Let's try to focus on the positives of the moment together. As dim a time as it may seem for the Ohio State faithful, there remains something worth celebrating.

For the entirety of my life, the only Buckeye quarterback to ever sniff the NFL Playoffs — if not spiritually counting Joe Burrow — has been Mike Tomczak. His most notable postseason appearance played out as literally one of the most unwatchable games in the history of professional football. Tomczak later won a postseason game with the Steelers in 1996, but Buckeye fans have had to wait ever since for another field general from Columbus to make an appearance in the NFL Playoffs.

In the decades that followed, a narrative emerged that Ohio State quarterbacks could not win in the NFL despite their consistent success in college. Burrow's recent ascension did nothing to combat this collective thought, because the common football fan only recalls his Heisman campaign at LSU.

However, after 27 years, C.J. Stroud has finally put a former Buckeye signal caller back in the professional postseason. He was not shy about crediting Ryan Day for his development and success in doing so. Today's Dubcast will make sure Ohio State fans understand that.

Additionally the Dubcast discussion also covers:

  • Will Howard, welcome to town! But are we sure he's a lock for the starting job?
  • Seth McLaughlin and Quinshon Judkins, come on down! But what does the latter's arrival say about TreVeyon Henderson's future in Columbus?
  • Welcome back, Tyleik Williams! Will he end up being the biggest NFL-eligible name that sticks around?
  • Ask Us Anything! — writers to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com this week inquired about many topics, such as how good are you at resisting an itch?
  • In the latest installment of "college football headlines that sound like Metal Gear Solid fan fiction," the president of Texas A&M had to respond to a report this week that the university allegedly accepted undisclosed funding from Qatar related to research projects that included "nuclear science."
  • Buckeye basketball remains fun, but will the team correct its mistakes through January in what has been a traditionally poor month for Chris Holtmann's teams?

Thank you for tuning in, and make sure to follow the Dubcast on Twitter to stay updated on next week's and all future episodes! Swing by the 11W Dry Goods store in the meantime!
