We're t-minus 39 days until the foot hits the ball on the 2022 Ohio State football season. The Buckeyes host the Fighting Irish on Sept. 3 under the bright lights inside Ohio Stadium, and the outing promises to be one for the ages.

As the offseason moves into its final weeks, The Dubcast celebrates the acceptance of Joe Thomas Barrett IV, one of Ohio State's all-time great quarterbacks, into the ranks of NFL coaches. We'll talk about his prospects and what it takes for a great player to become a great coach.

We'll also discuss the NCAA's desire to bring some calmness to the chaos of the transfer portal by defining some windows in which players might declare their intention to take their talents elsewhere. Is this a sensible reform, or a needless infringement on player mobility?

Finally we'll discuss one time the Buckeyes missed on the recruiting trail, and then chuckle a bit about the death of the turnover chain and what it takes to create a new sports tradition in the age of social media and all the haters.

Ask Us Anything visits our Buckeye Football bookshelf and what we're reading, takes a quick digression to talk about Homecoming, and then ponders why Ohio State fans are do darn pessimistic. An important reminder: you can ask us all kinds of fantastical things by sending us questions to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com!

And that'll do it! Thanks as always to you for listening and checking out the Dry Goods store, thanks to Travis for the cool logo, and we'll see you next week!
