The good news is, it's the weekend. The bad news is, Buckeye football still ain't back.

Another day closer.

Word of the Day: Vim.

NOT JUST FAST. Reality is, there's just no scenario where Jameson Williams isn't the fastest individual on a football field, but for the purposes of getting better, he's been acting like that ain't true.

“You’re trying to operate in a world of, ‘What if I wasn’t that fast,’ and if you’re able to embody, that approach, a really special player can come out of that,” Hartline said.

“He already has a physicality that a lot of receivers don’t have. He loves the contact piece, always making sure that with speed and with blocking that we’re under control — that we operate with purpose.”

...

“I really don’t rely on my speed, unless it’s a go ball and I need it for separation,” Williams said. “I really try to focus more on the route part.”

A reminder that we're talking about a guy who is basically Ted Ginn Jr. Jr. here. Pretending that you're not very fast to focus on your route running is a great tactic, but at the end of the day, it's pretty cool and good to be able to do this:

he gone

But yeah, if you can give me this speed + route running + elite hands... Folks, we've got ourselves a cheat code!

MOVE ON BACK. The college football playoff committee was set to debut their first set of rankings just four weeks after the Big Ten kicked off its season, but in a mostly meaningless and relatively unshocking move, they're going to punt that decision back another week.

For Ohio State's purposes, this is just the difference between the committee watching the Buckeyes just disembowel Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland, or adding Indiana to that list. I'm unconvinced an inevitable 42-3 win over the Hoosiers is going to do much to sway opinions either way, but whatever makes you more comfortable, I guess.

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE OLE CLEMSON. It sure didn't take Dabo long to chase away one of the top #teens in his 2020 freshman class as five-star running back DeMarkcus Bowman is on his way out in search of greener pastures.

For some context, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the No. 29 player in the class, so this would be comparable to him just peacing out four games into the season. I have no idea why this fellow has decided to leave, but it sure ain't great for Dabo's Dudes going forward!

You really just hate to see it.

SHOCK THE WORLD? We're a solid 50 days from Ohio State's annual flaying of Indiana, but it seems Hoosiers quarterback Michael Penix is getting a little frisky already.

Hey man, shock the world all you want against Penn State and Michigan. But just a little word of warning, the Buckeyes were already going to flatten your brash ass into the turf to begin with, they certainly don't need any bulletin board material to expedite that process.

SONG OF THE DAY. "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service.

NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. Spend a night as the "mayor" of Hell, just in time for Halloween... A man admits to nine murders after contacting suicidal people via Twitter... A Belgian drug dealer hijacks a helicopter to free his incarcerated wife only to find the prison is too small to land in... The curious case of the ex-model accused of murdering an entire British family... Researchers have discovered a hidden drawing behind the Mona Lisa... The unsuccessful WWII plot to fight the Japanese with radioactive foxes...
