Two teens were arrested in connection to the shooting of Ohio State wrestler Sammy Sasso this week.

According to a report obtained by 10TV, the Columbus Division of Police arrested a 15-year-old female and a 16-year-old male after witnesses confirmed the teenagers' identities to local authorities.

The 15-year-old female has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and separate counts of felonious assault, theft and weapon under disability. The 16-year-old male has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and individual counts of felonious assault and theft. The suspects are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Sasso was shot south of Ohio State's campus at approximately 8:23 p.m. on Aug. 18. An altercation occurred in which Sasso suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen when the suspects attempted to steal Sasso's car. Medics took Sasso to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in serious condition.

On Aug. 19, Sasso underwent emergency surgery to reconstruct his colon, and on Aug. 20, he received another procedure to remove the bullet near his spine, Sasso's family said in a statement.

As a result of the bullet's trajectory, Sasso sustained nerve damage to his spine, and after three days in the ICU, he was transferred to an acute care unit where he continues to receive care. Upon Sasso's release from the hospital, he will be transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility and receive comprehensive therapy to help him relearn how to walk.

"At this time, Sammy is unable to walk without assistance," his family wrote in the above statement. "While the doctors are hopeful that he will make a full recovery, Sammy has a long, difficult road ahead of him."

In addition to their statement, the Sasso family also started a GoFundMe campaign to cover his medical expenses and provide him with the resources he needs to "regain his strength and continue his inspirational journey" as an Ohio State wrestler.

"Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to providing Sammy the support he needs," Sasso's family wrote.

As of Aug. 29, Sasso's GoFundMe has surpassed its goal of $100,000, reaching $102,691 since it was created on Saturday. Continued donations can be made here.
