39-Point Third Quarter Propels Ohio State Women’s Basketball to 87-49 Win over Wisconsin, Extending Winning Streak to Eight

Ohio State women’s basketball turned a five-point game at halftime into a 33-point game by the end of the third quarter against Wisconsin on Thursday night.

The Buckeyes scored 39 points in the third quarter against the Badgers to turn a meager 31-26 halftime lead into a 70-37 advantage just 10 minutes of game time later. Ohio State outscored Wisconsin 39-11 in the third quarter as nine different Buckeyes scored in the game’s third frame, led by Jacy Sheldon with 11 points.

The 39-point quarter tied the highest-scoring quarter in program history. The Buckeyes previously scored 39 points in the second quarter of a 110-58 win against Bellarmine in 2021.

Ohio State also outscored its visiting opponent in the fourth quarter, 17-12, to finish the game with an 87-49 victory.

Eleven different Buckeyes scored in the game. Sheldon led the Buckeyes with 17 total points while Cotie McMahon (15), Eboni Walker (11) and Celeste Taylor (10) also finished in double figures.

Ohio State shot 50% from the field for the game and scored 36 points off of 27 Wisconsin turnovers compared to only eight giveaways for the Buckeyes.

With the victory, Ohio State (18-3) has now won eight games in a row entering one of its biggest contests of the regular season at Value City Arena on Sunday, when the eighth-ranked Buckeyes will host No. 10 Indiana. Both teams are currently tied with Iowa for the Big Ten lead with 9-1 conference records.

Sunday’s game against Indiana will tip off at noon at the Schottenstein Center and will be broadcast by FS1.
