The Buckeye hockey women wrapped up their 2015-16 regular season on Saturday with a loss to No. 8/9 North Dakota. Ohio State led early. Alexa Ranahan deposited a Maddy Field feed in the first minute of the game. Lauren Spring tickled the twine with a second Buckeye goal before the clock hit three minutes.

North Dakota’s Amy Menke narrowed the gap just before the intermission. The Fighting Hawks charged out of the break to outshoot OSU 14-7 in the second period. A power play tally by Becca Kohler and an even strength marker from Meghan Dufault put the visitors up going into the final frame.

The Buckeyes battled hard to even the score in the third period. The team threw 12 shots at NoDak goalie Shelby Amsley-Benzie, but she turned each puck aside. Ohio State’s rally attempt was thwarted by a pair of late penalties which made the Buckeyes shorthanded for nearly the entire final four minutes of the game.
