To no one's surprise, Tony Alford's move to Michigan comes with a pay raise.

Alford signed a three-year contract with the Wolverines with a base salary of $850,000, up from the $772,500 he received as a base salary last year with Ohio State, per The Columbus Dispatch.

In addition to his base salary, Alford also received a $131,325 bonus from Ohio State for the team's berth in the Cotton Bowl last year.

The former nine-year coach with the Buckeyes will also be Michigan's run game coordinator in 2024. Hired by the Wolverines to replace Mike Hart, Alford’s contract was set to expire after last season and he was not among the assistants who had received announced extensions this offseason.

Ohio State has not yet found a replacement for Alford, though Ryan Day said on Tuesday that “the candidate pool has been excellent” and there's no huge rush to fill the position. Day is handling running back coaching duties in the meantime.

Oklahoma running back coach DeMarco Murray, reported to be one of those candidates, reportedly turned down the Ohio State job on Wednesday after he was offered a new three-year contract to stay with the Sooners, whom he played for during his collegiate career.
