When Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said both Kyle McCord and Devin Brown would play against Indiana, he wasn’t fibbing.

After McCord started the contest and played the first three series for the Buckeyes, Brown made his first appearance of the season on Ohio State’s fourth possession of the game in the midst of a 7-3 contest.

McCord completed nine of his first 12 throws for 70 yards, but also tossed a costly interception to Indiana’s defense on a fourth-and-2 play in the second quarter.

It was on Ohio State’s next possession when Brown entered the contest. Brown didn’t attempt a pass in his only first-half drive. Ohio State took the ball at its own 26-yard line following an Indiana field goal that cut the lead to 7-3. Two running plays set up a third-and-1, but a quarterback keeper from Brown resulted in a loss of three yards and a Buckeye punt.

McCord returned for the final series of the first half, going 1-for-4 with a 24-yard strike to tight end Cade Stover that set Ohio State up for a field goal in the frame’s waning seconds. McCord finished the first half with 10 completions on 16 attempts for 94 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception.
