Urban Meyer's NFL stint is over.

After just 13 games, Meyer's time in Jacksonville is over as the Jaguars have fired the former Ohio State head coach, team owner Shad Khan announced early Thursday morning.

”After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban's tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone,” owner Khan said in a statement released early Thursday morning. “I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen.”

Though Meyer went a paltry 2-11 over his 13 games, it was not the on-field product that resulted in his removal – it was everything else.

Meyer's time with the Jaguars was rocky and marred with controversy from the start, from his decision to hire a strength coach accused of making racist remarks, to the video that surfaced of Meyer groping a woman that was not his wife, to reports that he called his staff "losers," to the most recent controversy of former Jags kicker Josh Lambo accusing Meyer of kicking him during practice.

With Meyer's departure, Jaguars offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Meyer finishes his time with the Jaguars with a 2-11 record – the first time in his head coaching career he's ever had a losing record. Meyer has a career 187-32 record at the college level, losing just nine games across seven seasons as the head coach at Ohio State.
