Brian Hartline is on the board for 2025.

Ohio State landed its first wide receiver commitment and its second commit overall in the 2025 class on Monday as three-star Florida wideout Jayvan Boggs committed to the Buckeyes.

The Boggs File

  • Class: 2025
  • Size: 6-0/188
  • Pos: Wide receiver
  • School: Cocoa (Cocoa, Florida)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★
  • Composite Rank: #368 (#50 WR)

Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Boggs is considered the 368th-best player and the 50th-ranked wide receiver in the 2025 cycle. Boggs is the former high school teammate of Ohio State safety Cedrick Hawkins, as the pair played together at Cocoa High School (Cocoa, Florida).

Boggs picked up his OSU offer after dominating at a recruiting camp on June 15.

The 6-foot, 188-pound Boggs joins quarterback Tavien St. Clair as the lone prospects committed to Ohio State's 2025 class, but perhaps this commitment sets up a mini run for the cycle, as the Buckeyes are the favorite to land four-star cornerback Blake Woodby as well, who has a commitment scheduled for Saturday.

Boggs brings playmaking ability to Columbus

While Boggs may only be considered a three-star recruit, he's certainly outplayed his ranking so far. Boggs has dominated opponents throughout his junior season, catching 48 passes for 779 yards with an eye-popping 14 touchdowns in just six games. And if there's one recruiter on Ohio State's staff that you can trust to evaluate talent, it's certainly Hartline.

Florida recruiting journalist Jon Santucci certainly had no shortage of praise for Ohio State's newest wide receiver commit.

Boggs profiles as a future inside receiver at the collegiate level, though he's primarily played outside receiver for his high school. He made a name for himself in the second week of the regular season in 2023, when he torched five-star 2024 Florida State cornerback commit Charles Lester for 10 receptions, 210 yards and three touchdowns in his team's 31-21 victory.

The OSU commit consistently displays soft hands and awareness to find the holes in a zone defense. He's also not afraid of contact and will both fight for yards after the catch and be willing to take a big hit if it means he secures a catch. Boggs profiles as a fast-rising wide receiver in the 2025 class that could see the field within his first few years at OSU and perhaps play on special teams sooner rather than later.
