Ohio Stadium will reportedly host two of the world’s most famous soccer teams this summer.

English Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea will play an exhibition match at the Shoe this summer, according to multiple reports.

A specific date for the friendly has not yet been announced.

It won’t be the first time Ohio Stadium has hosted an international soccer match. The Shoe previously hosted an exhibition between Spain’s Real Madrid and France’s Paris Saint-Germain in 2016. Ohio Stadium also previously served as the home of the Columbus Crew for its first three seasons from 1996-98.

Ohio Stadium, which will host eight home football games for Ohio State in 2024, is already scheduled to host another professional sporting event on March 1, 2025, when the Columbus Blue Jackets will host the Detroit Red Wings in an NHL Stadium Series game, the first-ever hockey game in the Shoe.

Manchester City has been the dominant team in the English Premier League in recent seasons, winning five of the last six EPL titles, including each of the last three. Chelsea is a six-time EPL champion, winning its most recent title in the 2016-17 season.
