Did Ohio State’s 2022 QB rotation only help the 2023 Texans and hurt the 2023 Buckeyes?
In an 11-2 season, with 11 double-digit wins, including 6 wins of 30+ points, Coach Day only rested CJ Stroud for 82 snaps.
Kyle McCord 67 snaps (47 hand-offs, 20 pass attempts) in 7 games
Devin Brown 15 snaps (15 hand-offs, 0 pass attempts) in 2 games
I think a case could be made that this lack of rotation (and the 2023 O-Line issues, of course) directly influenced the offensive struggles and eventual implosion in 2023.
In no way do I believe that Coach Day intended to make the 2022 season about CJ’s draft stock/NFL readiness, BUT with heavy rotation in so many other positions, why does Coach Day not rotate QBs in ways that help the backups develop with live reps?
