Pat Elflein’s time with the Carolina Panthers has ended after two seasons.
The Panthers released the former Ohio State center on Tuesday, one day after they re-signed Bradley Bozeman, who replaced Elflein as their starting center last season after Elflein underwent season-ending hip surgery.

Elflein was set to make more than $7 million in 2023 in the final year of a three-year, $13.5 million contract he signed with the Panthers in 2021. By releasing Elflein, the Panthers saved more than $4 million in cap space.
Assuming he is fully recovered from his surgery, Elflein should garner interest from other NFL teams in need of interior offensive line help, as Elflein has started 64 games over the past six years since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2017.
His release comes one day after the Panthers signed one of his former Ohio State teammates, Vonn Bell, to a three-year, $22.5 million deal.
