An Ohio State football player was named to a preseason watch list for the fifth day in a row on Friday as this year’s rollout of preseason watch lists for college football’s major awards continued.
Ohio State center Luke Wypler was named Friday to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which honors college football’s best center. He was one of 40 centers selected to the watch list.

Wypler is entering his second season as the Buckeyes’ starting center after playing a team-high 860 snaps in 2021.
He joins C.J. Stroud, TreVeyon Henderson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as Buckeyes who made preseason watch lists this week. All three of them were nominated for the Maxwell Award while Stroud is on the watch list for the Davey O’Brien Award, Henderson is on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award and Smith-Njigba is on the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award – which honor college football’s top quarterback, running back and wide receiver.
Watch lists for 10 more major awards are scheduled to be released over the next two weeks.
