Tonight’s game against Penn State will introduce the shock and awe and pageantry of the Shoe to dozens of recruits watching the Buckeyes play in person for the first time. We all know watching the game on TV doesn’t do justice for all of the Shoe’s great traditions. You have to be there. But which one is the GOAT? Here are a few suggestions for your consideration:
- The sheer size and magnificence and soaking in the pregame atmosphere of Ohio State’s great gray gridiron cathedral
- The roar of the crowd and the decibel level of the noise at its highest intensity
- TBDTITL’s ramp entrance
- The incomparable Script Ohio
- “Hang on, Sloopy” at the end of the third quarter
- O-H-I-O cheer circling the stadium
- Post-game Carmen Ohio
- The bells tolling victory
Honorable mention: Neutron Man’s dance (RIP).
I purposely omitted the Skull Session in St. John Arena and the stadium walk because they take place outside the Shoe.
Feel free to suggest something I overlooked (but expect a flurry of DVs if you say pregame Cals).
