After promoting Parker Fleming to special teams coordinator, Ohio State has hired a former Power 5 coordinator to fill Fleming's role as special teams quality control coach.
Ricky Brown, who served as Boston College's special teams coordinator from 2017-19, announced his new role on the Buckeyes’ staff on Monday.
Fired up to be joining @ryandaytime staff at @OhioStateFB and helping @Coach_P_Fleming & @zach_woodke with Special Teams #OH #ToughLove #Fight

A Cincinnati native (from Elder High School, the same alma mater as current Ohio State tight end Joe Royer and offensive lineman Jakob James), Brown played linebacker at Boston College from 2002-05 and went on to play for the NFL's Oakland Raiders from 2006-11.
Brown, who was also previous a defensive quality control coach at USC in 2014-15, spent last year coaching linebackers at Lafayette College after former Ohio State assistant coach Jeff Hafley opted not to retain Brown at BC.
Ohio State has also added Joe Lyberger, who spent the past two years coaching linebackers at Bucknell, to its support staff as an assistant linebackers coach. He replaces Michael Cibene, who left to join Hafley's staff at BC earlier this offseason.
