Like most fans of the Buckeyes I love what Coach Coombs brings to the table from a recruiting and raw emotion standpoint. He brings in some of the most talented players in the country and they all love playing for him. This part of him is outstanding and Ohio State Football is lucky to have him from this standpoint.

Last night, and for the entire 2020 season, we witnessed a return to the Kerry Coombs/Everett Withers defense that was not built to contain a modern passing offense. This and the technique the DB's are using are flawed just like 2013 when MSU and Clemson ate the pass defense alive.

I personally had mixed emotions when Coach Coombs was brought back to Columbus. The defense had to be rebuilt in 2014 by Ash, Fickle and Johnson. We always had the players, the coaches just needed to coach the correct techniques and install a defense capable of containing a modern offense.

This article sums it up perfectly, change the names and 2013 and 2020 are the same. 2018 was as well and led to the Coach Hafley hire. Hopefully Coach Day makes the same changes prior to the Spring. The question is will he?
