So there has been a lot of talk about how Ohio State doesnt belong because they havent played enough games. So I went ahead and did a little digging on stats for comparisons. All of these can be found at College Football Stats on TeamRankings.com
By the numbers the teams are relatively close
Strength of Schedule - 3 Clemson (10-1) 11.7 and 10 Ohio State (6-0) 9.6
Offensive PPG - 3 Clemson 44.5 and 5 Ohio State 42.5
Offensive YPG - 6 Ohio State 529.2 and 8 Clemson 517.9
Rushing Offense per game - 4 Ohio State 275.7 and 66 Clemson 164.0
Passing Offense per game - 6 Clemson 353.9 and 40 Ohio State 253.5
Defensive PPG - 18 Clemson 19.3 and 28 Ohio State 21.0
Defensive YPG - 11 Clemson 312.1 and 35 Ohio State 357.5
Opponent Rushing YPG - 9 Ohio State 96.7 11 Clemson 101.2
Opponent Passing YPG - 44 Clemson 210.9 104 Ohio State 260.8
Looking at the stats Ohio St has a better running game and run defense while Clemson has a better passing defense and passing offense. The problem with comparing stats like this is different number of games played and the teams each team played.
For instance Clemson played The Citadel, a triple option offense that doesnt pass the ball very often. Meanwhile you look at Indiana who is much more air raid.
Most points given up in a game for each team: Ohio State gave up 35 to Indiana while Clemson gave up 47 to Notre Dame.
Closest non loss game for each team: Ohio State 7 vs Indiana and Clemson 6 vs Boston College.
The teams are nearly statistical twins, the biggest difference is Ohio State gives up about 50 more yards per game passing.
The game is going to be close, and it could go either way. Much like last year, there shouldnt be a blowout by either team unless an implosion takes place
(OP Edit): Some people have asked for SOS I have added that into the group as well
