First of all this is not a forum made to bash Coombs and the secondary, as I am confident this season will just be a fluke with COVID/injuries creating a perfect storm of factors that have led us to the pass defense we are all seeing now. 

My question revolves around Greg Mattison and possible replacements. His contract is up at the end of January and he's getting up there in age. I think Ryan Day should take a look at Derek Mason, wasn't the best head coach but was a fantastic defensive coordinator prior to that. In the beginning of his tenure at Vandy an anonymous SEC assistant coach said "I'm not exaggerating when I say this: Derek Mason is as good as a defensive coach as there is in the world."
