Another week and another team gets its stats stuffed.

RUTGERS' OFFENSIVE NUMBERS

Rutgers entered the game with an offense that was well balanced and could score. Before playing Ohio State the Scarlet Knights averaged 34.3 points (40th) and 448.8 total yards (34th) of offense per game. The Buckeyes held Rutgers' offense in check holding them to 7 points and 155.8 yards below their season average of total yards.

RUTGERS' DEFENSIVE NUMBERS

Rutgers came into the game ranked 105th in defense. Not much room to go down, right? Wrong. Ohio State's offense continued the ground and pound game and racked up 281 yards against Rutgers' 30th ranked rushing defense. The Buckeyes gained a total of 528 yards sparked behind J.T. Barrett's  223 passing yards, 101 rushing yards and 5 total touchdowns. Ezekiel Elliott led the Buckeyes with 142 rushing yards and 2 touchdown. Michael Thomas hurt the Scarlet Knights' secondary with 5 receptions for 103 yards and a 50-yard touchdown.

RUTGERS' SPECIAL TEAMS

The Scarlet Knights came into the game with one of the B1G's better kickoff return games. Early in the game Ohio State negated that aspect of the game by booting the ball through the end zone. When the Buckeyes kept the kickoff in play Rutgers only averaged 12.8 yards a return.

Joey Roth, Rutgers' punter, averaged 35.3 yards of net punting with a long of 46 yards. Nothing special. Their field goal kicker, Kyle Federico missed his only FG attempt and set the tone for the rest of the game.
