Another week and another team gets its stats stuffed.
PENN STATE'S OFFENSIVE NUMBERS
Penn State entered the game with an offense that wasn't setting the world on fire. Before playing Ohio State the Nittany Lions averaged 25.2 points (92nd) and 344.3 total yards (103rd) of offense per game. Saquon Barkley ran through and around The Buckeyes' 19th ranked defense. However, Christian Hackenberg was held to seven completions 120 yards.
PENN STATE'S DEFENSIVE NUMBERS
Penn State came into the game ranked 10th in defense. Ohio State's offense stucke to the ground game and gashed the Nittany Lions' 26th ranked rushing defense. The Buckeyes ran for 315 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cardale Jones was for 9/15 (.600) for 84 yards. Barrett was 4/4 for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns.
PENN STATE'S SPECIAL TEAMS
The Nittany Lions have a lot of respect for Jalin Marshall. I'm not sure if Penn State's punters (they used two) were punting away from Marshall or if they had a case of the shanks. Either way PSU's punters took the special out of special teams.
Penn State's larger than normal kicker was perfect on field goals and extra points. However, his biggest play of the game was when he tripped up Curtis Samuel on what could have been a KO return touchdown.
