I bet I've heard two dozen analysts in the last few days, when talking about the resume's of contenders, "when they played, St. Mary's was No. ___ ."  The ranking when they played?  Are you kidding?  Nothing could be more irrelevant.  Because, if they were no. 3 then, but now they're no. 45, what makes the difference that the opponent was no. 3 BEFORE THEY PLAYED ANYONE other than bottom feeding programs? 

I just heard Jeff Long chairman of the playoff committee on Big Ten and Beyond use the same analysis point.   WTF?  It really bunches my bloomers.
