I can't help but wonder how the Playoff Committee, assuming we win out, is going to view us at the end of the year looking back at that VT loss (4-4). Of all the teams that have taken down VT, Ohio State failed to at night in front of its home crowd. And since then VT has lost to East Carolina 28-21, Georgia Tech 27-24, Pitt 21-16 and were pummeled by Miami 30-6 last week. The only teams they have beat since OSU are UNC and Western Michigan. And with a relatively difficult schedule remaining, it's a very real possibility that Ohio State has a loss to a non bowl eligible team on its resume. Hopefully the new Playoff Committee and their wide range of backgrounds and opinions looks favorably on our Buckeyes. Of course we are starting 22 freshmen and sophomores on the two deep, and there is going to be a learning curve and adjustment. The argument can certainly be made that they are a different and much better team than they were week two. If that is the case with Ohio State, then they will have to prove it the rest of the season and hope that the Committee sees it that way. I'd like to think that the former coaches on the committee would be understanding to the fickle nature of football and the fact that teams grow throughout the year, but we'll find out on tuesday when the inaugural poll is released.
