Bob Knight’s recent passing got me to thinking about that legendary championship squad from 1960.  First of all, I wonder how many NCAA title teams produced three future Hall of Famers, two of whom were named to both the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players and 75 Greatest Players 25 years apart.

Plus, Bob Knight’s record of achievement as a college coach has been surpassed by very few.

But beyond that, think about the other three key, but lesser-known, players on that squad.

Larry Siegfried was a 5-time NBA champion who led the league in free-throw percentage twice.

Joe Roberts spent several years in the NBA and ABA as a player and then coached for roughly a half dozen years in the NBA, including being the sole assistant coach on the 1975 NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

Mel Nowell played for a short period of time in both the NBA and the ABA.

What an awesome group of players with post-college success at the highest level.
