This Week's Question: Which Non-conference Opponent Would You Most Like to See Ohio State Basketball Play Next Season?

Last season, Ohio State got a fun non-conference opponent in Duke, with the added bonus of getting to play Coach K in his final season. Scheduling basketball non-conference games can seemingly happen on a year-to-year basis, which happens far less frequently in college football, with games being scheduled out sometimes even 10 years into the future.

So with the flexibility of a college basketball schedule in mind, and the near end of the college basketball season upon us, it brings us to this week's question at Eleven Warriors: which non-conference opponent would you like to see Ohio State basketball play next season?

With the news of former Ohio State coach Thad Matta getting hired at Butler, the easy answer is to say Butler in the Gavitt games or something of that ilk, which I'm sure remains possible.

But in the essence of something different, my personal answer would be Gonzaga. Ohio State and the Zags hardly ever play, and it would be great for both college basketball and the interest of both fanbases if the two programs could find a way to make it happen.

From the Buckeyes' perspective, scheduling the game makes sense considering Gonzaga is certainly likely going to be a top team again in 2022-2023, so a loss wouldn't be the end of the world on an NCAA tournament resume, but a win could skyrocket it.

There's a reason OSU remained a seven seed in this year's tournament despite a late-season slump. Having that Duke win in its back pocket certainly helped in that regard.

Assuming Coach K stays retired, Gonzaga coach Mark Few now has the highest winning percentage among active coaches, winning .836 percent of his games. Beating the best should be what Ohio State strives for year in and year out, and this would be another great chance to do so.
