This morning, The Ohio State University announced that Steven Hayes has passed. Born in 1945, Steve was the only child of legendary Buckeye football coach Woody Hayes and his wife Anne.

Judge Steve Hayes served 25 years as a Franklin County Municipal Court Judge. Ohio State football fans may recall that his most high-profile case coincidentally became Maurice Clarett's 2003 misdemeanor police report falsification.
Judge Hayes completed both his international studies and law degrees at Ohio State before going on to establish and endow two significant university academic programs in the College of Social Work and Mershon Center for International Security Studies. He created the Anne Hayes Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence, as well as the position of Wayne Woodrow Hayes Chair of National Security Studies within the Mershon Center.
President Kristina M. Johnson offered condolences to the family in a statement from the university this morning.
