My wife and I have been kicking around the idea of relocating somewhere with nicer winters (MODs can I change my username?). However, we are both really close with our families who are in the area and honestly that is the only thing holding us back. We have two young kids and would hate to take them away from their grandparents but at the same time feel like being able to be outside year around would be healthier for us in the long run. 

Do any of you have any advice on relocating away from family? What were the biggest adjustments? Etc.
