Mr. Tressel Goes To New Orleans

A video of part of JT's halftime speech at the Sugar Bowl has been making the rounds, definitely not a side of him we are lucky enough to see very often.

Erm. Can we prove that that's Tressel?  It doesn't sound anything like him.

It probably is, we just never get to hear him like that. I've heard stories about how he goes absolutely nuts in the locker room before games...throws chairs and stuff.

Good question.  It may be him, but it may have been an assistant coach.  The setting is not in the locker room, but in the tunnel leading to the field.  You can tell this because of the female guards in the foreground and the narrow hallway like setting.  Whoever recorded this was probably a stadium worker who could be in big trouble for doing such.

That said, the scene just does not seem right for JT to spout like that, and the voice inflections are not like his.  The HC usually does all his motivational stuff in the Locker Room - away from prying eyes, and leaves the field entry stuff for assistants. Also, scream and rant all I want, my voice inflections are still the same.  I have done quite a bit of coaching in my time and any voice recording of my locker room antics could be clearly identified as my voice.  Just not so sure about this recording.

Yeah they're not in the locker room, the hall way echo and the distance the guy was from the team makes it difficult to make out. So maybe I'm just one of the few believers on this one, because I feel like I can make out the voice fairly well. It's just loud and uses the word "ass" more than we are accustomed to hearing from Tressel.

It sounds just like Tressel to me.  Whoever posted this better not let the university find out, he'll probably be fired.

I have no idea whether JT would be giving the speech there or whether it would have likely been an assistant.  But, that sounds like JT to me.  If it was an assistant, It may have been is brother, do they sound similar?

this sounds EXACTLY like JT to me, and i'm pretty sure it was just taken by some random fans who happened to be in the area right before the team came out in the second half. honestly i think the older he gets, the more firey he is, which i am totally fine with.

I'm 99.9% sure it's JT as well.

Not only sounds like him, but the way the team says "yes sir!" really leads me to believe its JT.  I am in love with him all over again.

Hell Ya, that'll fire you up, to bad they came out flat and JT started calling a safe game till the 4th down run.

All in All thou i'm 100% that's JT, the way the team responded with the, "yes sir". Every single player said that, balls deep too. No coordinator could command that kind of respect. It really speaks to the vest, i always thought he was a hard ass behind the scenes and ran his team like a military outfit. This pretty much confirmsit for me.....and i like it.

LOL exactly.  Best. Speech. Ever.  At least the ones we've heard.  It's unfortunate that the second half came after this.
