While no Buckeyes are expected to be taken in the first round of tonight's NFL Draft – indeed, we could see a first round pass without any Big Ten players taken, something that hasn't happened since 1953 – the event is still must-watch television. Whether it's Jets fans melting down over their team's choice at No. 9, or to critique the suits worn by instant-millionaires, there's pretty much something for everyone.

As for the Buckeyes, tomorrow might's second and third rounds will likely be when Johnathan Hankins' and John Simons' names are called. Former coach Jim Tressel, like the rest of us, are hoping to hear NFL commissioner Roger Goodell say those four amazing words, "The Ohio State University," tonight, however.

NFL Network/ESPN, 7:00 p.m.

Only appropriate that there is a ridiculous Jets fans gif. I suppose they'd all be ridiculous though.

This should be an unpredictable draft.  I would LOVE to see Big Hank go first round.

Indy_Buck87's picture

Agree with the vest.  I sure hope the colts select him.  He will be a great player in the NFL and their defensive scheme is perfect for his skill set.  Plus I get to wear his jersey and watch him play here in Indy.

I think the 2nd-4th rounds will be where a few buckeyes will be taken, but I am holding out hope that Big Hank goes in the first! He follows me on twitter, so he has already jumped the pack as my new favorite NFL Buckeye

as a Browns fan this is one shining moment I have a year.. please do not ruin this front office.
-fingers crossed-

AJW_16's picture

I'm a Browns fan too and I am routinely disappointed by their drafting. The shining moments are pretty much always outnumbered by head-scratchers.

Please tell me I'm not the only one watching NFL Network over espn?

d1145fresh's picture

I am on the NFL Network train too. Although Marshall Faulk's eyes kind of bother me.

Junior Samples's picture

Can't stomach NFL Networks analysts. Great players, lousy TV guys.

d1145fresh's picture

I really like Rich Eisen and Mike Mayock but the other guys are pretty rough.

Unky Buck's picture

I'll take Mayock over Kiper everyday...or maybe it's I'll take the NFL Network over ESPN anyday and trickles down to those too because I do think Kiper is rather knowledgeable...McShay is the one I can't stand (no idea how he has a job).

Yeah, even as a Bills fan and not being able to stand the Dolphins, I love their logo.

The new logo is sweet, but their new uni's look generic. a step back IMHO.

Unky Buck's picture

Definitely not overrated. No need to be a hater. The dude is one of the best LT's in the game right now.

...

buck-I.8's picture

Okay, to be fair, and as a Browns fan myself, there was a season the year before last where Thomas had some head-scratcher games. I questioned his entry to the Pro Bowl, so if that means he is/was overrated, I'll allow it.
That said, he's still at the top of the list of guys that don't need replaced. Any season where Buster Skrine and Sheldon Brown are allowed to be responsible for an opposing WR, I don't think it's hard to spot the areas that need to be supplemented.

Crimson's picture

Another DE.  I hope they knew what they were doing, but I'll only be happy if other teams botch their draft tonight at this point.
You're up Browns . . .

TLB's picture

He'll be alright.  I just hope he doesn't need the lenses his glasses seem to be missing.

OSUStu's picture

I think Ansah is going to true out to be quite a player.  The guy was a lot of fun to watch this year.

d1145fresh's picture

Whenever I see highlights of Tavon Austin I just think of what Dontre Wilson can be. Scary good.

Bucksfan's picture

The Browns, with no true WR talent, draft a DE in the first round when Tavon Austin was available.
It is never getting better.

William's picture

The Browns, with no true WR talent

Josh Gordon would like to have a word with you, as would David Nelson.

William's picture

Josh Gordon, the guy who led all rookies in YPC...

Bucksfan's picture

There is so much irrelevance to that statement that I don't even know where to begin.

William's picture

As a rookie he had 50 recs for 805 yards and 5 TDs. He was the best rookie WR last year and outperformed guys like Alshon Jeffery and Justin Blackmon. How is my point irrelevant? Basically you made an ignorant statement and I called you out on it.

Bucksfan's picture

Wait, I'm confused.  Justin Blackmon had 865 yards and 5 TDs.  At best, that's a push.  In the end, Justin Blackmon wasn't even the most productive receiver on his team.  He had another guy named Cecil Shorts who performed slightly better.  Josh Gordon was the Browns' leading receiver, ranked 39th in the league in yards.
It's not ignorant to say the Browns don't have a true receiver, especially when they went into the season hoping Greg Little would come around.
Get with the program.

BuckeyeBoyer85's picture

Browns didn't have consistent enough QB play to give any WR big numbers. For being off football for a whole year, I think Gordon showed he can be a #1.

Wayne Woodrow Hayes

buck-I.8's picture

Didn't we get Josh Gordon in the supplemental draft? If you're best case is that Gordon and Blackmon (who was a beast in college) are a 'push', then I think I'll be okay.
Also, Greg Little figured out how get the cement blocks off of his hands, so I think the coaches see some bright things from those two.

OSUStu's picture

Sorry man, I don't think Josh Gordon is legit.  He had the majority of his yardage against some very lousy opponents.

Buckeyejason's picture

Lousy opponents? This is the NFL..production is production.

BUCKEYES BABY!

BuckeyeBoyer85's picture

I like Tavon Austin's speed and big play ability, but he is awful small to pick at #9. He won't be a #1 WR, I think Gordon has way more upside.

Wayne Woodrow Hayes

Bucksfan's picture

Now that's probably true.

Adam21's picture

Am I the only one happy that Shariff Floyd keeps falling?

Unky Buck's picture

I'm terrified that the Bills traded down to take a QB. God I hope that's not the case.

...

TLB's picture

they are taking a QB.  May trade down again and stockpile 2nd, 3rd rounders

Unky Buck's picture

Haha, thanks. I had a feeling when they traded down that far that they would. I just think they could've nabbed one of these guys with their extra 2nd round pick now and filled another position of need. They have a ton of holes and QB is clearly one of them, but the crop of QB's this year are not worth 1st round picks. I would've preferred Jarvis Jones or even Tyler Eifert as they could use help on both of those areas as well. We'll see how the rest of their picks work out I guess...

...

OSUStu's picture

I love how the Jets have no offense and take two defensive players.

THATS THE JETS FOR YOU! Captain buffoon Rex Ryan calling the shots still.

BUCKEYES BABY!

Bucks43201's picture

I'm hoping Kenny Vaccaro is there for the Steelers at 17. Or Jarvis Jones. Vaccaro is tough and hits like a LB. We need depth at Safety and a future replacement for Troy Polamalu.

TLB's picture

Jones is the pick

OSUStu's picture

I would be fine with either of those.  Or even Eifert...if Miller can get healthy they would be dangerous on the field together.

True. Damn - Vaccaro is off. Jones, Eifert, Ogletree, or Patterson now.
Hankins in the 2nd, Simon in the 3rd, Stoney in the 4th. I can dream

Haha.  I'd love those later round picks.

Damn ... good pick.  Perfect pick.  Hate the Squeelers.

TLB's picture

They do what they do and do it pretty well.

Knarcisi's picture

Look for Big Hank to go to them to fill for Hampton if still around.

TLB's picture

Cam is going to see a lot more time this year.  Some of the coaches think he is better than Ziggy.

buck-I.8's picture

It seems like every year the Steelers get a mid-to-late round pick and casually grab someone who fits their system perfectly and makes you wonder why they were even still on the board. Good for them, but I still hate em.

Bucks43201's picture

I think it'd be funny if whichever team picks Te'o had Lennay Kekua announce the pick by putting an empty chair on the stage at the podium.

"You win with people." - Woody Hayes

Knarcisi's picture

I like the Brownies pick ... thank goodness not another QB.  We need a receiver ... that group stunk.

Buckeyejason's picture

How could you like that pick? He has bust written all over him. If he doesnt get at least 10 sacks a year it will be a waste imo. Once again bested by their division rival who had the later pick.

BUCKEYES BABY!

buck-I.8's picture

I actually agree with you here, but I'm hoping for the best. He's too small for right now I'd say, listed at only 241. He's not exactly a run stopper, but on the bright side, he's a freak athlete and he's got the frame to bulk up. He's stronger than he looks, with good speed on the edge, and any scout will tell you he wasn't used to his full potential at LSU. He could very well be a bust, but in the same light, he could well be the best DE/rush LB to come out of this class.

OSUStu's picture

Maybe Floyd should have told some team he had a dream.  Too soon?

Browns fuck their pick up again. What a reach! Pick the productive, better player in Jarvis Jones if you're going OLB!!!
Jets..LOL. Rex still running things i see.
49ers. Really? Trade up to get Eric Reid who you couldve drafted in the SECOND round!?!! Good grief!

BUCKEYES BABY!

steensn's picture

Look at it from the Browns perspective, "We're so glad he fell all the way to pick 6! What a draft steal!" :)

IBleedSandG's picture

I don't know if I would question the '9ers draft strategy, they have killed it the last few years.

We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, we're from O-HI-O!

Bucks43201's picture

I think the Dolphins reached hard by jumping up to take the DE from Oregon.
Risky and bust-worthy.

Jordan, Mingo and Anzah all have bust written all over them! Hell id take Chase Thomas from Stanford in the 3rd and be happy with that for an OLB.

Buckeye Chuck's picture

My fellow Browns fans have a complex about the Steelers. No matter who they draft, it's always someone who is going to "haunt us for 12 years," never mind that it's now been going on a decade since any of their first round picks could be described that way. It's a loser's mentality. I'm sure Steelers fans couldn't care less who Cleveland drafts, because teams can only control how they improve.
I lost a lot of interest in Jarvis Jones after his milk carton-like SEC championship game.

The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.

buck-I.8's picture

It may have something to do with consistent good coaching and a front office that actually gave a shit in Pittsburgh. I'm about as big a Browns fan as you'll talk to generally, and i'm envious of the stability that some teams have that we just can't seem to acquire.

Kevbo714's picture

I work as a bartender (thank you poli-sci degree, but I love my job all joking aside) and I was expecting an excited crowd tonight. The few who showed up, seemed almost bored with the draft...

Tom Crean listens to Nickelback...

buck-I.8's picture

Did you see how bored the crowd in NY was? The draft seems to have become more of a production that you tune in to get updates on every once and a while, not "sit down" TV. That said, I am also a political science student turned bartender, so I feel you there.

Buckeyejason's picture

Of coarse it was boring. It took practically 4 hours to pick 32 players!
