Se'Von Pittman Makes 18
Another gray box, and another bit of terrific Buckeye recruiting news.
According to Bill Greene of Scout.com, Se'Von Pittman, Scout.com's #9 ranked defensive end, of Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio is now a Buckeye.
Pittman, who committed to the Spartans and coach Mark Dantonio in mid-June, had been rumored to be waffling before the Urban Meyer hiring, and it's now official. At 6'4, 260 Pittman will give the Buckeyes another piece to what is quickly becoming the highest ranked defensive line haul in the school's recruiting history. He was a high school teammate of current Buckeye Steve Miller, who will be entering his sophomore season.
Pittman is the Buckeyes 18th verbal commitment, and second since Meyer took the reins.

That was not meant to offend you ladies at all. There has been a longstanding tradition among commenters to write things along the lines of "all you guys (and Pam)...." I had to throw Elika and Sarah in there because they actually contribute. At any rate, all that was meant was the percentage male to female readers is a little skewed.
I am aware of that and I find it irritating everytime I see it, which is why I always comment on it... or at least I have for as long as I've had a profile, which, granted, is only 17 weeks.

According to which outlet? I agree, we are definitely top ten, but I have yet to see any media outlet update their rankings based on these two. We can likely land in the top 5-8 depending on how we finish out this class.
Scout has us at #10.
This class could very well finish in the top 5. Add Spence and 1 more 5*, fill the rest out with 4* kids, and you've got a good shot at top 5 for this OSU class.

Scout's rankings also have LSU at #5 with 0 top 100 and 0 5 star recruits.... I'm not sure how they got their lofty ranking...
They have 9 4*s committed so they are definitely deserving of a Top 10 ranking, but they shouidn't be 5th, more deserving of 7th/8th.
Look at Clemson, who is below them. Everything about Clemson aside from their 1 less recruit is better than LSU's class. By no means am I knocking LSU's class. It is definitely impressive. More than anything, I'm just expressing my hesitation in taking class ranking too seriously.

Gotcha... That ranking on their homepage wasn't updated. We definitely have room to move up with 5 or so more scholarships left.
I wonder if this could help our O-Line recruiting or our gameday O-line performance. If I'm Dodson or Diamond I'm thinking that going up against these hogs in practice every day will only make me that much better of an O-lineman.

One thing to remember about recruiting rankings. They also have to do with holes you need to fill.
Example: You are deep with running backs and you recruit 8, 5 star running backs you will still be low on the rankings because you are not filling a need. So while stars matter it's also what voids are being filled.

I watched a bunch of players' highlights on YouTube last night, and both Pittman and Schutt were very impressive. Spence was also, but I'll wait to get excited about him. Of course, Washington was great too. Let's land some awesome O linemen and LBs soon...

That is what we need most. Diamond has other visits planned. Both may be waiting to see who the OL coach will be. He needs to be someone who puts guys in the NFL.

DAMN!! I logged on this morning, say the grey box and thought "ahhh, Schutt, sure was nice to get him yesterday". Then I noticed 2 glorious words in that box - "Se'von" and "Pittman". Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Shame on me for going to bed so early.
If they can lock up Diamond and Dodson, an LB and a Caleb type, oh man, I shudder at the possibilities of what this class will acomplish in their 4 years here.
One thing about recruiting rankings I'd like to point out is that they don't mean a damn thing lol. As signing day approaches and all these guys are committed, the recruiting services will drop them down a bit so they can hype non committed guys and get people to buy "insider" information about the players and where they are going to land.
I don't pay much attention to how many stars a guy has. Hell ESPN, Scout, and Rivals can have the same kid ranked with a different star rating. I pay attention to their list of offers. If a dude is 3 star but Bama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, and Oregon are on his list, clearly his ranking is far too low.

I'm the same way. I check out what other schools have offered the kid and if I see USC, Bama, etc.... looking at him, then the kid probably has some serious talent.
These 2 commitments are making me giddy. Even if they only get Dodson or Diamond (please let it be both), Kozan or Davidson could fit into the class nicely.
