Muck Kansas and their brothers
Come on Bucks!
Sorry guys but that right there is why we'll never be a basketball school
Didn't take long for the first ridiculous comment to come in post loss. Good job, Rowetrain.
Class of 2010
Yes because that was such a ridiculously good game they just played huh MATTHEW?? People have been preaching basketball, basketball, basketball all week with the problems happening with the football program. I'm sorry that getting past the round of 16 would be what people would need to see consistently to be a "Basketball School". C'mon man, that was a disgusting loss and we both know it.
Yeah 'cause our fucking football program is in such a fucking good state. FUCK
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
JakeB, usually I'll have your back when it comes to comments on here but this one is a little outta control. Our football program may be in some shit right now but it also wasn't too long ago that our basketball program was going through issues with rules and whatnot. Either way, this Ohio State brand was built on the gridiron and not the hardwood. I don't see the problem with my statement. Losing in the round of 16 twice when you had the better team is a problem, not a coincidence.
I think you can tell my comment was completely emotion based. I just felt your comment perhaps wasn't needed or at least at this time. I know this school is a football school, but this team was special. If you want to talk about losing like this in football then I can pretty easily bring up two straight national title game losses, an embarrasment on the road in 2008, another bowl loss that year, and then a heartbreaker in 2009 when we had the lead the entire game.

My response was also based on emotion. I'm just salty with all of this. I guess I just expect too much out of a bunch of 18-22 year old kids whether it is football or basketball. For that, I am disgusted with myself and not with these guys. I need to learn not to rely on sports to keep me sane but rather my own actions.
I have a response to the games you mentioned in football but that will be me just getting into what I don't want to get into.
I hope we're cool JakeB. O-H.
I-O.

But now we can't even look forward to football
Quick. Someone get me an adult beverage concoction that will make forget the last 26 days.
Currently chugging Nyquil.

Matta is now officially a shitty tournament coach. He's had one year where he didn't get upset by a lower seed. One year. Hell the last two he can't get past the sweet 16.
Can't blame the refs, can't blame Buford's awful night, can't blame Sully forcing too many shots, can only blame Kentucky and the amazing defense they played tonight
At one point in the second half, Nantz noted Ohio State was shooting 29% from the field.
At NO point in this GAME, could Ohio State shoot 29% from the field and expect to win.
Back to football.
Those first 5 minutes or so of the second half when the refs weren't calling fouls on Kentucky really sucked. Still, have to shoot better than 32.8% and get your last shot attempt to someone who isn't ice cold like Buford.
FUCK HE'S JOHN STARKS ALL OVER.

You CAN'T blame it on the refs! Ohio StaTe failed, dude!
I am fucking disgusted. I made the comment last year that i'd never see them win it all. I hoped I was wrong this year. Fuck the World. Fuck the tatgate 5, everything i've heard since December, fuck buford. you are now my john fucking starks part ii. FUCK.

I should've said heartbroken. ANYONE BUT A TEAM FROM THE SOUTH.

I work with UK fans, too. And no, it's not at a rehab center. It is heartbreaking. If this team wasn't going to win the title, Matta never will. He just won't ever do it. I guess it's just like football, in that you just have to enjoy being the best in the B1G, and will always suck it nationally.
Great season ended by having our worst game all year. I cannot believe the last possession. We have timeouts left and we're running a disjointed triple teamed three for Buford? He's ice cold. Beyond ice cold. He's in Siberia. Really needed a TO there to set something up, could have called TO with 3.4 left. Baffling coaching and just an all around shitfest of a game.
I hope Buford leaves. really.

It sucks that Lighty, Diebler, and Lauderdale have to go out like this. Even if Sullinger and Buford come back, it will be hard to replace what Diebler and Lighty meant to this team. Sibert, Craft, and the new freshmen will be good, but this team was amazing.
I'm saying, John Starks was never the same. Buford stunk it up like that game 7. I still have nightmares over that game. Count me as a doubting Thomas.

He needs badly to make amends for this next year. I know he feels awful right now, but he folded completely.
They actually had 5.4 seconds after the shot was made; you can call time-out there and work a play to get the ball down the floor and get a shot. Or you can call time-out at 3.4 and inbound from half-court to maybe get a better shot. Either way, you really need to get the time-out so you can draw something up that is not a shot by the iceman WB.
'Ole 9-3 Earle is now 'Ole Sweet 16 Matta. A good coach and guy, but just can't win the big games.
Wow. I called this shit last year vs WVU. He doesn't adjust.

Ugh. Disgusting losing to Calipari.

Too soon, but too true. I'm heartbroken in every single way regarding Ohio State Athletics right now.

In defense the last shot kinda developed into a scramble situation. I was hoping the law of average would have went into effect and Buford's shot went in.
go bucks
I thought the refs were pretty balanced for 30 mins but the last 10 was a disgrace. Almost as bad as Buford.
What was up with Bufords shot selection and inability to finish on floaters?
Oh boy...

Oh come and sing Ohio's praise
<tears>
And songs to Alma Mater raise
While our hearts rebounding thrill
With joy which death alone can still
Summer's heat or winter's cold
The seasons pass the years will roll
Time and change will surely show
How firm thy friendship ... O-HI-O!

UK played some sick defense, but man buford chose a really bad time to have one of the worst games of his career
My worst tournament fears came true: a tight game against a team that was bleeding clock, with William Buford deciding in the last two minutes "this is my team" and clanging a bunch of his patented step-back 18-footers off the back-iron when just about anything else would have gotten us better looks.
I was scared of that scenario all year and it came true.
Dammit.
This game really came down to missed foul shots and the easy bunnies that were missed also!

Man, there were a few runouts that we just flat blew layups on. We shot ft's like shit. Any or all of those would have won it for us.
4-7 on free throws in the second half, definitely not good enough in a tight game. Ugh...
I was worried about this game all week. Well, really since the brackets were announced. Matta just doesn't have it in the tourney anymore. And next year we get to start all over.
The only thing I can compare this to is the 2009 USC game. I had the "fortune" of being at it, and even though the end was terrible the first 55 minutes were one of the best times of my life. No matter what happens they're still the Bucks! Things aren't pretty right now in Columbus, but as long as we have the Scarlet and Grey everything will be OK. Best teams, best fans, best band.
O-H!
I am with ya. It wasn't Matta's fault............32%
I wont get into the noncalls on UK
Agreed, except I'm not sure there's anything that can make him play his bench.
O'Brien went to the NCAA Tournament 4 out of his 7 years and made 1 Final Four in that time. Thad has made the tourney 5 out of his 7 and made 1 Final Four (and that 1 FF required not one but two semi-miraculous victories). Regardless of seeding, the tourney resumes are much more similar than any of us would like. I like Thad a lot, but saying that 1.) Thad is "still building" the program, and 2.) That is doing great except for playing bench players, is a slightly rose-colored view, especially in light of the fact that we just lost to Calipari.
We are all salty about this loss, but right now I don't care so much about a national title as I do that we will never have the privilege of seeing this particular squad play together again. This team won the right way. They won with class. They cared deeply about each other. I suspect there won't be another team like them again. And I for one will miss them.
Yes sir, nailed it. That picture IS our team.
Knight goes 3-10 from the field for 9 lousy points, but two of those makes were the 3 with a few minutes to go and the game-winner. Why couldn't he have followed Buford's lead?
It was a great year. Diebs, Lauderdale and Lighty are done. It is truly a sad day to be a buckeye. Thanks to them for their great effort.

Dudes, disappointing end to a magnificent season. OSU hoops still at the dawn of a golden age. Will miss the seniors.
I do think Sully should have been rested in the second half, and/or they should have went "big" with Sully and Lauderdale mid way through the second half - but I am no expert.
I would REALLY like to agree, but hard to when you've lost to Sienna, Tennessee and Kentucky as the higher seed. But we did win the NIT.
