Former Ohio State Linebacker Raekwon McMillan Suffers Torn ACL in New England Patriots Training Camp

Raekwon McMillan has been bitten by the injury bug again.

The former Ohio State linebacker, who signed with the New England Patriots this offseason, tore his ACL during a recent practice and will be unable to play this season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.

It's the second time McMillan has suffered a torn ACL in his NFL career, as he previously missed his entire rookie season with the Miami Dolphins after tearing his ACL during a preseason game in 2017.

McMillan bounced back from that injury to become the starting middle linebacker for the Dolphins in 2018 and 2019, but was a backup for most of last season after the Dolphins traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders. He signed a one-year, $1.1485 million deal with the Patriots in March and was competing for a roster spot in training camp.

Now, he'll have to start the process of signing a one-year deal and trying to earn his way onto a roster – whether in New England or elsewhere – all over again in 2022, as he's destined to spend the 2021 season on injured reserve.
