Jae’Sean Tate set an Ohio State basketball record on Sunday.
The senior forward from Pickerington, Ohio, made all 10 of his field goal attempts in the Buckeyes’ 80-55 win over Northeastern, marking the first time in Ohio State history that a player has made that many shots in a game without a miss.
The previous record was held by Brian Brown, who made all nine of his shots in a 2000 game against Florida State, and Basketball Hall of Famer John Havlicek, who made all nine of his shots in a 1961 game against Michigan.
Tate finished the game with a career-high 24 points.
"Early on in the game, I saw a couple opportunities to attack," Tate said of his performance. "In the second half, my teammates did a great job of getting it to me in the middle of the zone. I am kind of happy I didn't throw something up there, too."
Tate scored 11 of Ohio State’s first 13 points in the game and scored 15 of his 20 points in the first half, after which the Buckeyes led 47-17. His 10 field goals was the most he has had in a game since he went 10-of-15 against Minnesota in a 78-68 loss last season, and tied a career-high.
