BlogPoll Top 25: October 1

By David Sokol on October 1, 2012 at 12:00p

Our ballot has been cast and there was plenty of movement this week, including the Buckeyes, who jumped up four spots.

New to the ballot: Cincinnati, who had a last-second bomb to beat Virginia Tech.

Once again, you can also check out our ballot, as well as all of the others, on the BlogPoll site while also following on Twitter at @BlogPollTop25.

Alabama received every single first-place vote in this week's AP Poll. The Tide face Missouri in what should be an easy away game. --
Florida State didn't steamroll USF, but there wasn't a moment where anyone thought the Seminoles would lose. --
Oregon may give up some points each week defensively, but they're good for 50 on offense most of the time. They dominated Washington State, 51-26. --
The Dawgs have looked really good so far, besting a tough Tennessee team, 51-44, in a game that lacked all defense. UGA faces #6 South Carolina in an SEC showdown this weekend. 1
Is LSU good or are they ranked highly by default? LSU struggled with Towson. Yes, Towson. You know, that little school in Maryland known for lacrosse. LSU gets Florida at home, which will prove which team is legitimate in the SEC. 1
South Carolina has to prove they are worthy when they welcome UGA to Columbia on Saturday night. 1
If you haven't heard about Geno Smith's eight-touchdown day, then you live under a rock. Well, that doesn't include the WVU fans who live in the mountains. 2
K-State was off this week and welcome Charlie Weis and his joke of a Kansas team this weekend. 2
The Irish were idle as well and take on The U at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday. 1
The Buckeyes proved a lot this weekend at Michigan State. The defense came up big, holding the Spartans to 16 points, and Braxton Miller showed the ability to be beyond clutch in a big game. The last time Urban expressed that much emotion after a W, he had just won his first Championship at Florida. Nebraska comes to town in a big-time B1G matchup. 5
Florida also had a bye week and prepares for LSU to come to town this Saturday. --
The Longhorns are looking good, winning at Oklahoma State, 41-36. They get to play West Virginia and Geno Smith at home this weekend, in what should be a huge game. 1
USC plays on Thursday night against Utah. Nothing else to say about them... 1
The other OSU won at Arizona by three in what proves that they deserve to be ranked where they are. 4
TCU doesn't seem like a dominant team, but they're definitely good. They beat SMU, 24-16, on Saturday. 1
Clemson won, 45-31, at Boston College and welcomes Georgia Tech this weekend. 1
Boomer Sooner was off and travels to Texas Tech (4-0) in what could be a huge game for the Big Twelve. A loss by Oklahoma and it will be extremely tough to win the conference. 3
Stanford looks to rebound off their loss at Washington against Arizona this coming weekend. 10
Nebraska was dominated by Wisconsin for the whole first half at home. Then, with a reversal of fortune, Nebraska dominated back and eventually won, 30-27. Huge matchup at Ohio Stadium looms this weekend. 2
Northwestern is the only other undefeated team (OSU the other) in a weak Big Ten. They had their way with Indiana early Saturday. 3
I don't know about Louisville. They often struggle, then magically pull out wins. Southern Miss (0-4) nearly pulled off the upset but fell, 21-17. 2
Okay, they haven't played anyone and don't play anyone for a few weeks. We'll wait and see with Miss. State. 2
Cincinnati could potentially be the best team in the Big East. UC threw a long bomb with 13 seconds left to beat Virginia Tech in Washington, D.C., which is a very high profile win for the program. --
Rutgers has a tough defense that will make them dangerous in conference. Could this be the year they make some noise in the Big East? --
Sparty lost a tough one to Ohio State, but still showed signs of being a top team in the conference. Ohio State shut down Le'Veon Bell, which should be concerning to Mark Dantonio. They have work to do to get back in the thick of things. 3
