This reminds me of that bible parable where Jesus meets the leper colony and tells them, "be thine comforted, my brethren, in the fact that I can throw a football 85 yards, in the air"
So weird to read the timestamp on this comment and the one directly below it, trashing ESPN's recruiting rankings, made an hour before this comment.
My favorite line was when Sawyer made a point to note that he wasn't necessarily going for ESPN's number one ranking. He must be good if even ESPN puts him at the top, though.
Oh my god, thank you. I had no idea they were still watching football.
Said another way, SG is the "iffiest" position and PG is strong if Carton and Walker play there
For overall talent getting minutes, you're probably right. Still, I think Walker and Carton are the only true PGs on the team, while SG is a little deeper (with some progression) between Muhammed, Jallow and Duane. For me, best case is that Muhammed lives up to 4-star potential and Walker/Carton go 60/40 at PG this year...
Hopefully these don’t take him long because it doesn’t seem like many people here would be okay with them getting more than 2 days’ use.
I agree with the point about posting schedule. That’s why I said “Obviously, there's something to be said for the site's posting schedule. Maybe (Wednesdays) are otherwise slow”. If that’s the case, fine.
I also acknowledged that I was being a choosy beggar with the title, although that was clearly lost on a few.
If it’s a mattter of taking a few days, what’s the difference? The only thing I don’t agree with in your post is that the design might be affected by the weekend’s news. They mostly reference timeless culture.
Otherwise, this is exactly the point of the post. Hopefully you’re spared the drama.
I mean, I've met him a couple of times. This is just still the most appropriate forum for the suggestion.
I DEVELOP SOFTWARE YOU GREEDY INGRATE!!!
I tried to couch it as a request, not an expectation. My thought is that if he’s doing the same amount of work, anyway, why not get more mileage out of it? I couldn’t think of a reason changing the release date would create more work and most responses seemed to be moral grandstanding than actual consideration.
If that’s the case, it would be a relevant response.
No, I didn't. Your point just wasn't relevant because you were trying to shoehorn your professional frustrations in.
Alright, nevermind. Sorry to rustle everybody's jimmies. I just found one to leave up all season and Walt can go back to his life and stop making them if it's not worth his time. If anybody else is interested: https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/FB.jpg
> Than the OP should have phrased his request accordingly
I did: "If Walt started releasing the game day posters on Monday"
> that is not at all how it comes across to me
I can't fix that.
> I think I remember seeing something in a much older thread that he creates these throughout the season
That was my guess. I wouldn't want that changed, obviously.
Just to clarify, I do care how (the exact same way they are already done) and I don't want it now (but next Monday would be nice)
It's a strawman because I'm not suggesting dumping all of the posters in the summer, nor am I suggesting that any more or less time be taken on the posters. If it needs to be said, I would totally agree that asking Walt to release all of the posters in the prior summer is unreasonable, but since that's hyperbolic false equivalency, it's not relevant to this forum topic.
By the way, I've tried to look at it from Walt's point of view, as evidenced by my guesses at why they are released on Thursday. Just so I'm clear, though, in what way would this create more work for Walt, in your opinion?
> I wouldn't classify expecting somebody to further inconvenience themselves
To alleviate the concerns created by your totally-reasonable characterization, why doesn't he just skip a week? Then we'd have these released on Monday with less inconvenience. Or are you so infuriatingly entitled that you can't bear to let Walt be less inconvenienced?
> It's free, you get it when you get it.
I'm suggesting a nearly impact-free way to get more mileage out of his work. As a software developer, you have to have at least some basic understanding of the value of hits to a website, and if you can extrapolate that understanding, you'll come to the realization that content is what drives that traffic. From there, it doesn't take a genius to understand that an opportunity to maximize the impact of that content without increasing the effort required for to create it is a useful consideration. Also, it sounds like you don't support the site financially*, and if that's the case, you're the one expecting something for nothing.
> Getting pushy is a great way to make him reconsider whether or not these posters are even worth the hassle
You sound frustrated and this sounds like an excuse to vent about your personal frustrations with your open source contributions. I'd suggest taking your own advice and see if it leads to less-angry morning internet rants in your life.
*The person that sounds like they don’t support the site financially actually does support the site financially, though. Just to be clear. Through purchasing Dry Goods and by paying it forward as 12W.
What is it?
Why not let Walt's work go to more use? These may be a 2-day afterthought to most, but I think they're a great way to hype the game all week.
Obviously, that would be a completely different request. I'm proposing doing everything exactly the same way it's done now, just three days earlier. That was one impressively silly strawman, though!
How good in Notre Dame expected to be?
"Ohio State's final regular season [home] game will come against Illinois on March 5."
Eh, I think they are just sensitive to our dominance. Besides, they don't really have to advertise to us.
