I mean ESPN also still has Booger and Tess doing MNF sooooooooo lol
I dont think any announcer is a recruiting tool for any school, personally. The problem I have with Kirk is he just isn't as good or as important as he thinks he ought to be. He's average as an announcer. You could put a game he's announcing on mute and you wouldn't miss anything useful. Shit he's not even the best ESPN CFB announcer IMO (Jason Benetti is awesome and should be getting bigger games but sadly he never will because he doesn't look as good as Herbstreit)
Usually hate your takes lol but I can agree on this. I think we all know exactly what Dabo was doing here.
Personally, I believe Bilas blows Herbie out of the water as far as announcing goes. Bilas actually makes me want to listen to what he is saying, provides insightful details, and has an actual true opinion. Meanwhile I feel like any CFB game with Herbie could be put on mute and I wouldn't miss anything. BUT to be fair, it could be that Fowler is so bad he brings Kirk down
Kirk's the master of the back pedal, has been for a while. As I said in a previous comment, he will always toe the company line. And as I said before, no problem with that considering the size of the paycheck. But you can't be saying poor me about OSU fans not kissing your feet at every moment.
Then he shouldn't be calling that game, I for one got tired of him on his knees for Venables every other play. Give the game to Fox, let the actual announcers who are actually good at their job call the game. Kirk toes the company line (can't blame him, they pay him alot) just sick of his BS. Fowler...sorry, he just sucks
I mean I've seen crazier than if Baron would have declared, dudes an athletic freak and would have tested super well. Mike Weber declared early and got drafted in the 7th round.
Truly shocked he is coming back, can't be happier. Fringe first-rounder (I believe he should be higher but who am I), but now gets to play outside like he wants to and show off his skills. Huge huge huge massive get for Buckeye Nation
Who would have thought a guy pretending to piss like a dog would be the ignitor to two coaches in the same state being fired
^^This^^ I've really grown to not hate Saban because he's an asshole but doesnt pretend to not be an asshole. Unlike Good Ol Boy Dabo
Did you see the letter his lawyer dad came up with to announce that his son would be announcing on Jan 20th? Pretty wild shit...typical lawyer jargon but still a bit over the top to say my son hasn't decided yet. ((Though like Kareem said, just seems like they are trying to get a better policy))
Lots of teams do this it seems. I agree with the other commenters that it's done to prevent the opposing team from picking up hand signals or to see which board they are holding up. It's pretty funny that it's always the not great teams that employ this strategy
Think you nailed it here
I think this is a super important point. I'm with you, I don't think there is any rigging or any fixes in or any ESPN bullshit, but the fact people are even questioning it is very very very NOT GOOD. That is not the PR you want at all. From ACC refs in the LSU/OU game, to SEC refs in the OSU/Clemson game, to the games following seemingly just shaking a magic 8 ball to determine whether to enforce targeting or not, to the "rules expert" on the broadcast just being a dumb ass...
Absolutely zero problem with it, he ran it down their throat and TTUN had given up at that point. Side note, I've actually learned to be accepting of what Saban is...yes he's an asshole but he doesn't pretend to NOT be an asshole unlike that other good ol boy in orange
It's just not the same now. I can spend most saturdays watching random games all day long, trying to see any studs or studs in the making on random big 12 or pac 12 teams or whatever...Now I watch and just dont give a shit lol
Still kind of in a depressed daze trying to watch these bowl games, find myself just looking for examples of refs making the correct calls (News flash: They all suck). But did notice alot of guys posting that Clemson DE doing some terrible spin move and hyping him up as being the best DL ever already (it was a really stupid move that would never work in game). Glad to see PJJ putting the muzzle on that bullshit
While I agree with all of this, I think the reason nothing is being done is because, at the end of the day, the conferences dont give a shit. They are still bringing in stupid amounts of cash, they know we are still going to watch no matter what, and they just don't care. Unless something on a Tim Donaghy level happens in CFB, nothing is going to change unfortunately. They will shrug their shoulders, collect their bags of money, and just keep on keeping on.
Shit is really good lol
Starting to think Norvell might have a bit of the Dabo "secret sauce" aka The Bagman. Dudes come in and been crushing it. Wifes a FSU grad so they are my secondary follow on CFB haha
I know sprained MCL is what has been reported, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some meniscus stuff in there as well that usually will need to get "cleaned up." Not sure pain is the biggest thing there as much as just an uneasy feeling using that knee
Well FSU got Marvin Wilson (potential late 1st rounder) to come back to be a part of that shitshow, so why can't we get 1 or 2 of our boys back for another run.
In all seriousness, they've done plenty for OSU, go get paid.
Dabo's star pupil
I've read there is a replay offical IN the stadium but he gets input from the head office. As much as I wish this was a SEC only thing, it seems to be that way between all the conferences
Like others have said, he has a chance to be the all-time leading rusher at OSU. I'd have to imagine that weighs heavily on him.
I'm with you, that I'd absolutely want him to go get his money and get it now, but dude could be in the record books FOREVER
I dont think colleges have independent concussion guys like the NFL...they were down, knew they needed their top WR back, and even though he didnt do much, they were always putting him back in in that situation.
